Anyone in the vicinity (North Texas and Southern Oklahoma) along the Hwy. 75 corridor and wants to get up close to a Tri-Motor, this is your chance. Rides are being offered and tickets can be purchased at the Terminal. No price was given in the Newspaper article so you might want to contact them if you plan on driving any serious distance to get up here.

Well Ed, if I didn't live more than over 2000 miles away I would be looking to buy a flight. The Tri-Motor has to be one of my favorite aircraft of all time.:engel016:

I'll get out there tomorrow and get some pics Roger. I'm guessing the price might be a bit more than I would spend for a good addon, so pics are about all I'm likely to get, lol. The Airport is just a few miles down the road so I can't really pass up the opportunity to at least walk up and touch it.

If we didn't have plans I might have wandered up that way.

Looked up the price for a ride:

Yea, kinda what I figured. Actually I was thinking it might have been higher than that. . .but still too rich for my wallet.

Well, sorry Roger, no pics. The Airplane was parked about 40yds out from the Terminal with a taped off area beyond which you could not go. It is an interesting airplane and they seemed to have no shortage of passengers. Each flight was carrying what I figured was 6 people each plus Crew. Average cost per passenger was $75., that's $450 each flight and someone said they had already done three flights when I got there around 10AM ($1350). They've been here since Thursday I believe and they'll be doing flights tomorrow as well so if they do equally as well at the other stops along their tour they'll bring in a fair amount to be sure. Of course that airplane has to be pretty expensive to maintain too.

What was a kind of "Wow" moment was when he turned the aircraft to taxi out to the runway and I saw the massive wing area. You don't get a real sense of it's size until it's turned so you can see the expansiveness of it. Our winds were 20kts with gusts and directly out of the south so his takeoff roll was all of a hundred yards or less, lol (I have no true reading on how long he rolled til the aircraft was airborne). The tail came up immediately and the mains were off in very short order. That was impressive.

Last memorial day we had the collins foundation come out to Moffett field in the bay area with there B-17 and B-24 and the price was along the lines of 400$-450$ per person so 75$ per pax in a Ford Trimotor is pretty cheap in comparison.

And I did pay 450$ for a ride in a B-17 and felt it was worth it.
