Looking for a fix for when the CH-46 engines are shut down. There are no engine shutdown sounds while the rotor blades slowly come to a halt,
This is not right.

One of many regretted payware purchases. Stays in the hangar with zero hours. I could never get it to fly properly. The throttle would increase and decrease power/rpm between 1-100% of the throttle range, so never could get it to lift off or stay aloft. Might be something to do with the easy/difficult user settings? Think I have the same issue with the freeware Sikorsky released here I think last year. Just not a helo guy I guess!

I'll see if I have an updated FDE for the Ch-46. Open the aircraft.cfg to see what version you have.

As far as sounds go, my only suggestion would be replacing the CH-46 sounds with a set that has shut down sounds.

I've already started looking for something else. Tried to edit the sound.cfg file and put a help shut down sound in there but only manged to hear it shutdown when I
try to start it up. The "Frog" had its unique sounds and to substitute something else might make it worse. It is strange that Virtavia did made shut down sounds for the
other helos they made. If you do find a better FDE, I'm interested.

Anyone use or recommend alternate CH-46 sounds for the Virtavia CH-46 with shutdown sounds?

Hiya Lee!
I have the same FDE. Here are a couple of things to try that will improve the flyability of the CH-46. First, try using this set of numbers, [Helicopter] low_realism_stability_scale= 1.0, 1.0, 1.30 //Pitch, Bank, Yaw Scalars on Stability in Low Realism Settings.

Those numbers will increase the stability of the Pitch and Bank. Also, remember back in the day when were were doing helo ops in Nam with Creepy, Erik, Capt. Jeff and others, Graham suggested turning the General Realism slider to the low position and turning down your controller sliders for aileron, elevator and rudder. Those settings will increase helo stability. Give'em a try a let us know if there was an improvement. Should make for a more enjoyable helo experience.

Oh, and change the nose wheel steering from 180 to 45.

point.0 = 1, 15.80, 0.00, -6.60, 3500, 0, 0.75, 45, 0.38, 1.26, 0.5, 0, 0, 2, 00, 300 ; nose wheel center

You lost me on the nose gear steering change: Did not find nose gear steering in the aircraft.cfg. Everything else is good.

Looks like I already got that one thanks.

BTW The adjustments allow for a bit more controllable flight. It was getting to a point where the helo would easily spiral in out of control turns and was hard to maintain a steady level flight.
Thanks for the data. :encouragement:

still looking for some other suitable helo sounds with shut down sounds. I'm using the EH101 for now.

Thanks for the config settings Mal. Funny, the CH-46 in P3Dv4 runs just fine. Flew it from Da Nang out to Carl Ninja Mouse's Big E out on Yankee Station and even managed to land it.
