Alex - You got the plane guard ship spotted pretty good. :encouragement:

Read the fine print. If you have their F-4B/N package you get a 20% discount on the Midway package.
But you'll need to contact them and get the discount code before you get the Midway. No way to credit you after the fact.

Gets a bit pricey buying both - even with the discount - but looking at the F-4B page it looks like that already comes with the Coral Sea for free? Not sure I need both sister ships.

Also not clear - for the Midway package - if this is P3D v. 4 compatible?

I would dare to say it is v4 ready as the f4 itself is v4 ready i cant seem them having two products that cant be used together

Looking at the light in the images one could think those images are from v4

Its horrible timing for me as i just bought the 172 1000 and awaiting the v4 ready 787

the mrs will kill me if i buy too many things in such a short time frame

Here goes:

I just bought this product (Order #0020351125) but can't get into the SimStudios forums
Does anybody have a config for an A-6 - either Alphasim/Virtavia or RAZBAM - yet? Ditto the EA-6B Prowler? It's got a good list so far though:

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54518&stc=1

I bought the ships mainly to use with the A-3, A-6 and EA-6B. Sorry but I'm just not into Phantoms - my idea of a strike fighter is the VRS Superbug. My father also served at NAS Whidbey Island in the Vietnam Era and I am a big enthusiast of the aforementioned NAS Whidbey Island aircraft.

Thanks guys.

Yes. The discount rights are claimed on the date you get the Phantom. If we stop it a week after you buy it, you are still entitled to it because you laid claim early.

I'm still trying to figure out the Carrier Extensions Configurator, even with the tutorial video. :banghead: I'll get it worked out sooner or later.
Hats off to Alex and the SimWorks crew, this is a great package of ships.

JosefK, do you need everything for the models listed (AoA, hook#), and how can you not be a Phantom Phan? I understand, Tomcats first for me, but never operated in the fleet on this class. I'm just getting my SWS F-4B/N updated and loading Midway, still need to work the program. I was going to pull AoA numbers from vLSO for all the other period correct jets I own.

Victory103;

I'd be so grateful for all you got on the Virtavia and/or RAZBAM A-6s and EA-6Bs. Save me a lot of work this weekend please!
I just think the Phantom is not for me. I'm more a Superbug guy, then a Tomcat guy. Having spent so much time around EA-18Gs as an enthusiast and advocate for OLF Coupeville plus cheering on the US Navy Tac Demo, I feel at home in the Superbug.

On another matter, I don't know why anybody would want to land a F-35 on these carriers. It'd be like time travel!

Victory103, if you calibrate any jets not included with our list, feel free to share your assignments.ini and cvaircraftpresets.ini files so we can merge them in for the next update. They can be found in appdata\Local\CarrierExtensions.

A piece of advice: if you want to edit them manually for any reason, use the plain old notepad, as notepad++ will mess up the formatting.

On these carriers it's doubtful, but our tech is being modified to be adaptable to any carrier provided you have the model files and know how to write into a text file. ;)
Would anyone want a Nimitz, for example?

Hmm, what did I get myself into??? I'll see what I can do and post them up. I have both Raz models, actually just about all "boat" going aircraft from him. I do understand growing up as an USAF brat with the mighty C-130, at times my jungle gym while dad was working.

Making an AI plane trap on a moving carrier in FSX/P3D was hard, not impossible. Impossible is taking a break on holidays! Our carrier tech has provided us with what was missing, so now we can show you this AI A-7 landing on our Coral Sea carrier! Disclaimer: this is a prototype AI development for a future product.
Visit our page on http://simworksstudios.com/ to find the Carriers Extended! SDK and see more info on our products and technology. Finally, our products are on a 25% discount until January 7th, so grab them before the price goes up!

Can you tell me what time period are you developing the "Nimitz" package for...?
Do you for-see applying your extended carrier type technology to your support vessels..?
It seems with your advanced development animations you can and are taking flight sim naval operations to new levels....:encouragement:

The Nimitz will be in one of its modern, post-2005 versions.

Our tech is applicable to any vessel. I.e. you can animate a destroyer's hangar, weapons and anything else you like right now. We have an SDK for shipbuilders that they can use to make their vessels compatible.

We are also testing the next update of our carriers that will allow placement of formations that actually turn in formation (standard or corpen) and other things that I shouldn't write right now. Think of TacPack and AI Carriers combined, then add some virtual captains & wheelmen in these ships, providing positional awareness.

As for AI aircraft/ships/other stuff, we are hardly making out the tip of the iceberg. ;)

Joe raises an interesting question. Does it really matter what AI aircraft we select, as long as it has a tailhook?

Or does this new majik involve some kind of modification to the AI aircraft itself, either the model or the .cfg or .air file?

This will work with any tailhook-equipped airplane.

The only modification that "may" be needed is the hook-wire alignment, done through our Aircraft Configuration App. This ensures that the visual effect of pulling the cable will be at the hook, not in the fuselage or anywhere else. We already have presets for a bunch of good payware and freeware aircraft, so for these you don't have to touch anything. The list is here: http://simworksstudios.com/forum/index.php?topic=786.0. This list is going to expand as we get our hands on them or as you make presets and provide us with them.

AI Aircraft would be better suited, though, and we're thinking of introducing them with this package. We are working on the full cycle of launch-fly-trap-taxi, so if you want a deck with 70 dynamic aircraft instead of statics, you can't have them all being RAZBAM A-7s or VRS Hornets.

What I, personally, would love to see is a 1980s era flight deck populated dynamically populated with (obviously ZERO Hornets) at least one RA-5C, several A-7Es, some F-4Js, A-6s, one Hawkeye, a Sea King helo.

My dream would be to see the USS Independence CV-62 in simulation. For me, the flight deck would resemble when I was aboard during Operation Urgent Fury (attack on Grenada), and the subsequent attack on Lebanon. VF-32 & 14, VA-176, VA-15 & 87, VAW-122, VS-28, HS-15, and VAQ-131. The CAG did not have a Vigilante squadron....I just thought they were awesome aircraft!

Just reminiscing! NC

The SDK recovery will be completed this weekend. We've already recovered and updated most information in there, all that's left are the modeling guidelines. All of the stuff that's in there is coming with the next update, which will also include our Ship placer (think of AI Carriers with improved functionality), vLSO integration, a warp-to-deck feature and the ability to save a flight on a carrier and (apparently) load it with the carrier being where it's supposed to.

As for Chester, he is growing fast. The superstructure is almost done and the big structures of the starboard side are also moving quickly. We'll beat Newport News before they do the JFK. :P
