Some shots flying the Piper Cub around Saginaw Intl., Michigan. Always a fun aircraft to fly, but I had to take the skis off before I could (last time I flew it was in February!) - fortunately it was still in annual. ; )

What's the story on the strip you're flying out of and into John?

It's an old abandoned runway (and some taxiway) from the 1940's, at Saginaw International, overgrown with trees and weeds, etc. It is all part of the KMBS scenery by Turbulent Designs. The main airport is big enough to fly anything in and out of, but this old abandoned section of the airport grounds is really fun to fly in/out of with such an aircraft as the Cub.

Thanks for that:encouragement:

Certainly looks more fun than main airport (any main airport for that matter):biggrin-new:

All Turbulent design stuff is fantastic in my opinion.

That abandoned airsrtip really appeals to me.

I don't have P3D (yet), but it is the A2A Cub.

Beautiful shots! I do love the Cub... and I agree, that abandoned part of the field looks like great fun!

Without the Cub, the first pic could be a photo found on that "Abandoned Airfields" site.

Thanks John- all I have is Prepar3D v4 now, so it's important that it works in that.... a pity... especially with the current sale... :(

A slow ride in a Cub around the area, with your girl, is always a moment to remember. Ask not.

Just installed the A2A J-3 Cub in P3D4. Seems to work perfectly, all gauges functional.

It took me four days to hitchhike from Saginaw...

Spent 4 years in Saginaw prior to moving to AZ in 1973. A company town back then...GM. There was the Steering Gear division and Fisher Body.
Never wanted to go back there.

Here are some screenshots from another recent flight, taking the Lyon Air Museum's highly polished B-17 out for a flight from Santa Ana to Chino (in a roundabout way).

Which B-17 is that John? A2A or Aeroplane Heaven? And where is the repaint available from.

Bomber_12th
July 30th, 2017, 07:08
The aircraft is the A2A Accusim-version, with repaint from here: http://www.bladerunner900.co.uk/bin/FSX/a2a-b17.htm

Jankees also did a wonderful repaint of "Fuddy Duddy" for the A2A model too, with less polishing, available from OzX, which I fly quite often as well, depending on which circumstance I'm flying the aircraft - back when "Fuddy Duddy" was still based in New York, with the National Warplane Museum, the metal was bare but it wasn't highly polished, which is like how Jankees' repaint looks - today, now based in Santa Ana with the Lyon Air Museum, the aircraft is highly polished and looks like the repaint by BladeRunner900.

Thanks John. Will have to see if my A2A B-17 will work in P3D V4. Will be nice if it does.

Fantastic shots John. I have this scenery too, and it is a gem. I was just watching an Air Daily X preview (movie!) for MBS the other night and D'Andre made mention of and previewed the abandoned strip too. I had never noticed it before, but had only flown tubeliners in so far.

I have also been on the fence re the A2A B-17 while the sale is on, and now I'm even more tempted, and am now eyeing off the Cub aswell. Amazing what a few good pics can do.

That knackered old runway has inspired to finally get my head around ground textures and .mdl's and all that jazz. I want that sort of look for my home strip.

Beautiful bit of design by Turbulent - that's for sure.:encouragement:

I love A2A's Cub but that scenery is really outstanding Bomber! WOW!!!! If I could afford all of A2A's aircraft I'd have 'em all!
