Have managed the Barracuda and Sea Fury - the editing of fx and additions to cfg and dp are all highly individual plus the rato gauge has to be added to a/c panels.

It may take me some time to figure the best way to package this

Hi Baldy
Interesting work.
For the US Navy, look up US Navy Tests "JATO" on World War 2 Carrier Planes 1944, its a blast

Thanks Stu - all about trials - did US Navy ever use rato/jato operationally in WWII or Korea - the only Allied a/c I've come across using it were Seafires, Barracudas and Sea Furies but I wont mind if someone corrects me. I suppose the US carriers with their longer flight decks didn't really need this option - and the wooden deck wouldn't really be ideal for solid fuel rockets - but if anyone knows different please let me know

Hi

I've prepared a package which puts RATOG on some FAA aircraft - I think I've got it all together but I'd appreciate it if someone could find the time to check it out for me - any volunteers ? get in touch by email or PM - thank you

Hmm - no volunteers - well be it on your own heads - I've since discovered that Swordfish MkIIIs flying off MAC ships were equipped for ratog so I've added it to the package which I'm uploading now - here's a composite pic showing take-offs

I hope the instructions are clear enough - so happy take-offs (boosted )

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Effects Add-ons

Description: During World War II and the Korean 'police action' the Fleet Air Arm used rocket assisted take off gear to enable heavily loaded aircraft to clear the flight deck. It was also used if the catapult was u/s or there just wasn't sufficient wind speed across the deck for normal take offs.

This package gives all you need to equip Seafires, Barracudas, Sea Furies and even the Swordfish with RATO gear.

To check it out, rate it or add comments, visit RATOG Fleet Air Arm.zip (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?linkid=22808&catid=47)
The comments you make there will appear in the posts below.

Continuing my fixation on rocket assisted takeoffs -- here's some results of my meddling - these are German a/c that used ratog operationally

I still haven't found info on any US a/c that used it operationally - so if anyone knows anything let me know
