I know that the Sperry Mark III gauge had some kind of prob don't remember if it was a lockup or CTD prob but I caused me to remove it from all planes that I had been using it for.

captmercy
July 10th, 2017, 02:32
Yup I think the problem had something to do with the Sperry being in the 2d cockpit and clickable after I removed the 2d cockpit the problem was gone as the Sperry and other gauges and switches aren't clickable in the 3d VC cockpit found it works real nice as a passive repeater for the props auto pilot in the F9 window now

This model calls for the gunsight_corsair.bmp which can be found in your stock Corsair's texture folder. Just copy/paste it to the texture folder of the P-36 and you get the following. Notice that everything is a bit off-center to right. That's an anomaly in the mdl file that puts the reflector glass right of center, which in turn affects the reticle.

Been getting a bit rusty at this. This mdl should do the trick. There's an updated air file also. The fuel pressure gauge will function now. Accuracy? Not sure. With Aired a FS 98 entry was added. Number 500. If it doesn't seem appropriate, just delete this "500" section.

Hey Pete,

Does it look like this?

[LIGHTS]
panel=0.0, 3.62, 3.4, fx_vclight
L/R U/D F/A

If it does you will need to adjust the numbers to locate the light in the pit. Fs9 uses feet, cfs2, modeling meters from datum point of the aircraft.
Most likely the fs9 numbers were used and that will put them way off.

Did all that Dave I'm aftaid it might be the model thats the problem

You're right. It's an older model. Shows on external view, not in the vc.
I have the connie by Manfred Jahn. A different varient with a very good virtual cockpit though. It was started but never completed.
If you like I can get 'er done. Of course it will mean starting your panel over again.
The radome and wing tip tanks can be nixed. Also there are tons of repaints.

D/L'ed this one at avsim. " fsdzl049a_v1.zip " It has no vc. From the docs,

Complete package includes aircraft, panel, and sound. Install program for easy setup. This is a very accurate representation of the L-049A Connie in the late 1940's, but in other liveries that flew into the 1960's. Details include accurate flight dynamics, full fuel distribution panel, flight engineer's panel, high quality texturing, and many others. This version 1 does not contain a VC, which will be added in a later release.

Is this ok?

Description: The Lockheed C-69 Constellation was a four-engined, propeller-driven transport pressed into military service during World War Two. It was the first military version of the Lockheed Constellation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Constellation) aircraft line. It first flew in 1943, and production of the 22 constructed was shared between the United States Army Air Forces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_Air_Forces) and commercial carriers. Most of the C-69 aircraft built were later converted into civilian airliners under the new designation L-049 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_L-049_Constellation).

You're welcome Chris. Nice sharp pictures! Are you running CFS2 on a newer comp?

Hiya Dave.

Well sort of.

Up until the point a couple of months ago when my 12-year-old Windows XPPro "mainframe" desktop simming computer went south on me, I had two computers. One was the now deceased desktop. The other a 5-year old HP-Pavillion G7 laptop running Windows 8.1Pro.

I've pretty much only used the laptop when traveling or else very light work such as sending and receiving email and so forth. It stayed off most of the time. I'd turn it on from time to time to get the windows updates but that was about it.

Since the desktop meltdown I've had only the laptop. I have pretty much successfully rebuilt all of my CFS2 simming and scenery-building infrastructure on the HP. It actually runs CFS2 quite nicely. I was very surprised. I just copied my back-up CFS2 folder over to a folder on the HP C drive named "Simming Related" and run it from there- along with all my scenery making utilities and such.

The C69 screenies I posted were taken from the HPs 1600x900(32) monitor.

I saved the old Samsung SyncMaster 2333, 1920x1080(32). I keep it hooked up as a secondary monitor. Occasionally I will run CFS2 on the larger monitor in "Extended" or "Second Screen Only" mode and again the HP runs it just fine.

Cheers, and thanks again for the great AC.

That's interesting Chris. Never had a laptop and I'm surprised at it being able to do the graphics on a 1600x900 (32) monitor. I'll keep this in mind. My old Xp machine is about the same age as yours was.
Thanks, Dave

Hi guys!

Got bit of weirdness going on tonight when I went to do some flying in the C69. I tried every button combination I could think of to make it go away. Restarted with AC in the air instead of on the ground. Swapped out the plane for another and came back. Still no joy. The boarding ramp and wheel chocks refuse to disappear.

The other day when I first flew her I started on the ground and never saw the boarding ramp or chocks.

Thanks Dave.

Well, that seems to have done the trick. No more chocks or boarding ramp.

However, I am not sure where they came from in the first place. Like I said, the first time I put the C69 through its paces, there was no sign of them. Then, they just appeared.

Who knows, maybe in the future some odd combination of circumstances and key strokes and they might reappear. But for now anyway, they're gone!

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=52552&stc=1Its an option givin as you start up the game initally I was wondering if using the flightsim/CFS set up you may have activated the airstsirs and chocks as the model would do in FS9 I think sometimes it was activated by the Magneto switches or the seatbelt sign

Phew, well that's good news. In the model file that animation was set to " lever_parking_brake ". Usually CFS2 ignores this. In yours it refused to be ignored.
Now the *.mdl has 0,0,0,0 material set for those parts. In other words drawn but not seen. Let's hope it stays that way. :untroubled:

What Pete Mecry mentioned is also a relevant theory. Gauge files are actually *.dll files. So are the Modules in CFS2. The proper one can make active anything in the sim engine.
Only have to know which one. (Not in this lifetime.) With C++ programing skills this sim could have many of the features of Fs9.

Well, glad it's working. If any other gremlins pop up please let me know.

Take Care,
Dave

Pete, just a comment here on your great work of making these aircraft available to CFS2. Thank you.

In the description for this aircraft, we should note that (although I did the A-26B/C series,) Bomber_12th, John Terrell did the B26K variant you show here from my gmax source.

So, yes, it was my original model, but as modified by John Terrell. If you like, you can edit (Use the Edit Icon top right for that library entry), the description to correct that omission.

Pretty sure he meant "converted to CFS2" in terms of "modified"...at least that's how i interpreted the description. But i agree John should be included.

BC, I had no problem with this. I simply wanted to point out that John Terrell did the "K" variant mods to the original "B" model. I did not feel right having the credit for that.

In hopes of not making myself appear to be a choosy beggar, I post this last shot. It is out the front window while sitting on the ground. I was wondering if there is anyway to move the cross hairs up to the horizon line?

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/attachment.php?attachmentid=55784&stc=1

It isn't a game killer in anyway. Its just a bit disorienting, particularly when landing. Thanks again, guys! Well done.

Dvslats has an actuall fix to move the gunsite around I’m sure he’ll check in in a bit with that. I also included a noguns.zip in the package that will remove the gunsite all together but then it won’t be avialable for other combat type planes

Thanks PD,

I guess what I was really trying to say is that the horizon needs to be brought down. The cross hairs are fine- 5 by 5 right where they are supposed to be.

When I said it is disorienting its because one gets the impression of trying to land the plane with it standing on its nose- like it is getting ready to flip.

For comparison sake, the right side of the image below is taken out the front window of the stock B-24.

Hope I'm sounding ungrateful. :kilroy:

Cheers,
Chris

Look at the “panel_view_info.jpg” located in the package that should help?

Okay,

Thanks PD. That suggestion put me on the right track. Here is what that "Panel view info" deal looked like:
http://www.mask-rider.net/MaskRider2008/resources/panel-view-info.jpg

Didn't look much like what was in the actual CV-240 panel.cfg file.

On the left side, the following image shows what those entries in the CV-240 panel.cfg file actually look like. The value in question is hi-lighted in yellow. On the right the image shows the value I eventually settled on. The last image show the final result in the sim.

I took it for a spin and everything is jake. No more feeling that it wants to land standing on its nose. It feels and looks normal.

BTW, PD, I just noticed in my earlier post I ended by saying "Hope I'm sounding ungrateful. :kilroy:". I meant to say "Hope I'm NOT sounding ungrateful. :kilroy:l".

Hehe. Sorry about that! :sorrow:

Understood right away as I’m am a HUGE Maskrider fan from way back. I just started adding the 2D panels to our models just recently I perfer to use only the VC myself it looks to me as you only use the 2D view without the 2D panel for landing which seems like a good idea would you miss not having the 2D instrument Panel? it seems just to mess the view up to me?

To tell you the truth one of the first things I do every time I download a new AC is to open up the panel in Panel Studio and add new window which I call aircraft-name_NavAP-window.
It;s based upon Alain Capt's ACS/GPS utility.

I usually leave the main 2D window in place and dump all the rest of the non-VC windows. Then I add this window.

Here is what it looks like. I just find this configuration much more versatile and easy to work with/modify than those standard pre-loaded GPS modules.

But yes, whenever I start the game I always maximize the 2D cockpit window and then call up this window and lay in a flight path.

I am much more of a sight-seer than a mission or campaign simmer.

That is one of the reason I enjoy a nice VC to a 2D window any day.

I have no issues with your leaving out the 2D window. However, if what one wants is an open vista to look at minus cock-pit clutter, maximizing the regular 2D windows is only a simple click away.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Capt Mercy. I'm lovin' the Fairchild C123B Provider.

Just a couple of oddities I noticed. And you may have already covered these somewhere else in this thread. If so then I apologize for being redundant.

First off, I am not seeing any gauges in the VC.

Second, and this is just kind of weird, when trying to load the sim with the Fairchild C123B Provider loaded, making it the 95th AC, it gives me the old "failed to initialize" database and "failed to load quick combat" messages. But as soon as I remove an AC, any AC, everything is jake. Normally my max AC number is 98.

Okay. Never mind about the gauges and VC. I had the panel aliased to the wrong Fairchild c123. However, I still get the error messages about failing to initialize and all that stuff under the circumstances I described earlier.

Time to take some screenies!
