A couple of my repaints can benefit from a high resolution than the standard DXT5 file format offers, but what are my options? I'm using the Nvidia DDS plugin for Photoshop, and it gives me a lot of options, maybe too many. I got one of the 32 bit file formats to work in FSX, but the resulting file is 4 times the size of the DXT5 file. Is there something in between that would also work in FSX?

Thanks,

Tommy

Once you go up from DXT5 to 32 bit you're going to see those monster files. I run them selectively, but they are heavy hitters on some systems.

I've grown quite fond of DXT1 format for textures without or with a simple pure black/white alpha channel. This format yields half the filesize of DXT5 which can cut down an aircraft's memory requirements when the texture in question is mapped to a lot of animated parts.
