Indian Dunes Airport in Valencia California.
Most of you know this airport. But dont know this long lost airport.
The airport at Indian Dunes was built by the Newhall Land & Farming Company.
It and the hangar were for the Corporation’s aircraft & was always owned by them.
The airport was used in many Movies and TV shows in the 1970's and 1980's.
Most notably for the filming of the Flying Misfits, and the spin off TV series where
Marine Corps Major Greg 'Pappy' Boyington commanded a squadron of fighter pilots.
They were a collection of misfits and screwballs who became the terrors of the South Pacific.
They were known as the Black Sheep."
Black sheep Squadron made this their home from 1977 and 1978 during the entire filming of the
series. Robert conrad who Stared as Major Greg "Pappy" Boyington. lived in a trailer off of Highway 126
which ran along side the air strip.

Hi Trucker thanks for this post. I moved to Valencia in 1990. The airstrip was still there but unused. I used to fly the valley by 126 from Santa Paula and I remember seeing the dirigible mock-up from The Rocketeer set up there. I was sad later to see the airstrip dug up. I never met Robert Conrad but two of my director friends stayed in touch with him.

I have driven past the area a couple of times.
Once their was a Duck parked their but no other aircraft.
I was sad as well to see it dug up, and gone. At least the plan to build homes on the site was killed
For now anyways. Who knows about the future.
