Guys unless you read the posts carefully before posting and start reading other threads and or the Documentation that comes with OFF, or at least confining your queries to one thread we cannot help any more - there are simply too many people clammering and setting up new threads.
If we find a solution to the "mission failed to load" bug we will post on our website.
I suggest that those who are having this error try this:
Select US language and US keyboard.
As for the rest - Read the DOCS!

Cheers
Enjoy

Err, yes, makes it kinda hard to choose which thread to post my remarks in...
...I suggest that those who are having this error try this: Select US language and US keyboard...
After an afternoon of installing, reinstalling (a couple of times) and wondering what I did wrong, this last suggestion seems to work: I now can fly QC AND start a campaign!
And what a new world it is!!! At least it's clear in what thread I can post my compliments!!!! :icon29: :icon29:
So although I am deeply, deeply impressed with OFF, I am simply wondering if issues like the ones below will/can be solved in future patches?
Please don't take this the hard way, I don't want to offend anyone involved in the creation of OFF!! Your job is difficult enough as it is.
I just want to get these little annoyances of my chest, as OFF would be so much more enjoyable without.
- As noted in the ReadMe, exiting OFF leaves the desktop at 1024x768, screwing around all icon positions (Yes, I did read I can mend this by installing another program). But on my PC it also resets the refresh rate of my monitor back to 60 Mhz. I run it at 85 Mhz.
Why is that? I think I noticed that the stock CFS3 is able to avoid both issues (at least I think it does that - I get a black screen for a second or so when I exit the program - it's resetting?).
- I 'm also one of the lucky bastards who have to reset their language/keyboard setting to get OFF working.
Stuff like this makes me feel that at the moment OFF requires a teenie weenie bit too much setting/resetting/adjusting of MY system to play comfortably. Again, not wanting to criticise this marvalous effort, just hoping that it can be solved. So I take my hat of and bow deeply for all those involved!! What a job!!

Well it was beta tested on computers that were set up as English language as 99% of us on the team are English(US, SA OZ or UK) speaking - such is life.
60hz/85Hz bug - does not do that on any of our test rigs - does not mean that is does not happen - we have not seen it. I run at 85Hz and 100Hz - depending on PC that I am using - both come back in that mode accordingly - since day one - never a falter. (ATI 9800 pro and Nvidia 7800GT)
There is a similar thread on Sim-HQ about the 60Hz bug so you are not alone - however we did not see it - yes I will try to fix it - in time.
Icons do move we knew this a long time back - it will be addressed in Phase 2 basically because when I saw the amount of code to rectify this I realised that inorder to save time and get OFF out by 18th that the wee app/dll we refer to in teh docs is a good intermidiate step and moreover it uses STANDARD MS FUNCTIONLITY! (I am not sure if that is good or bad lol)
I am tempted to say we do refund users but then you never paid anything - so don't take any of this the wrong way either but rest assured I am more disapointed in the language and the refresh rate bug than you. And this exercise has not only cost us a lot of time but it has cost us money too.
Finally we all know why consoles are becoming increasingly popular for system devs - the above issues demonstrates this clearly I think.

You're doing a great job trying to help us all.
My questions are
a/ is it win98 compatible and
b/ if it is why when I create a pilot does the 'next' button not function. I'm all set up with a plane that's installed and wan't to proceed with a flight nothing happens?

Oh, no sweat WM!
I still like it immensely!! And the reason I don't like consoles is that things like OFF aren't possible, even if it takes some time to perfect it. (And a simulator can't run properly on a console, with only 8 buttons or so to control it. Even simulated life 's much more complicated than that)
It must be my 'bad luck' rig. Had to move heaven and earth to get my TIR working too. I 'm getting a little used to stuff not working the first time on my PC...
And about that refund, wouldn't accept it if I had paid in the first place. The effort alone you guys put in this would have been worth some money.
I 'll practise some patience (And good luck with this myriad of threads popping up all over the communities forums. Man, you need a good secretary to manage all this... lol)

Roger - please read the docs on how to use the sim. It is all there.
The Next button is to take you to the next pilot - and you probably have only created one.
Frosty - no worries just the way things go.

Do you have the pilot set as the active pilot? That could be your problem. Use the select active pilot or whatnot button.

Roger, not sure about win98 it's getting on a bit :)
make sure you make a pilot Active before continuing and next as the guys say is for your next PILOT not to proceed. Make and make Active a pilot then go back out an choose campaign or whatever

Ok I'm 53 and stupid, here's the screen I get after creating and selecting this pilot. From here I can go nowhere.

What happens if you press the select button?
Polovski

Well you are missing the Activate/Select Pilot button which means you must have just pressed it and now it's asking you to SELECT the pilot you would like to use. If you click on Select what happens?

I get a screen that I cannot record perhaps because it locks up and I have to Ctrl/Alt/delete to get back to a messed up desktop.
This is clearly a magnificent piece of work for the majority for whom it seems to work well. Kudos to all involved, I've seen Panther's and others' screenshots so just ignore me I'll sit back and enjoy the screenies. Cfs3 never ran well on my system (unlike Fs2004/GW3) so probably it's related to those previous problems and my out-dated os. I do have the Cfs3 patches and a clean Cfs3 install did function but with poor graphics compared to Fs2004 and many more stutters than Fs2004.
Good luck with a phenomenal add-on for Cfs3!

Don't give up yet Roger, OFF looks much better than CFS3 thanks to WM :)
Maybe you need to run through some of the basic fixes at the end of the read me doc. visual basic drivers probably aren't up to date? Run through that section.
