Er, negative that - though it is a very nice BE 50 model. We tried but could not solve the problem with the props.

Really like that 50's straight tail look of the Twin Bonanza, Queen Air and early Cessna 310.

What problem with the props ? I've been flying that in FSX for years.

Here is what Ed (Falcon409) diagnosed:


It is related to the prop disc in the mdl file and how it's coded to show transparency. Changing the prop blur has no effect because that's an external mod. The only way to fix what ails these planes is to either get the source code and do it yourself, contact the designer and see if he'll knock out a revised mdl file, or have someone do a full FSX conversion (they would still need the source files). Too bad, I always enjoyed flying the twin but the prop disc really kills the look unfortunately.

You get - using FSX Acceleration - a solid prop disk of mirror reflection at many different angles in flight that spoils the experience of an otherwise very nice model.

If anyone has solved this it would be great. Better would be Lazarus or some of the other skilled artisans here converting the model to native FSX . .

Not sure how to explain this. Prop disks look good even against clouds etc. Was SP2 or Accel released in 2007?

I agree 100%. I've said that for years. There needs to be two - a straight tail and the swept tail. The last ones made for FS was by Mike Stone. They have geared engines and would require some good FDE work. We owned both versions in r/l. Nice plane to fly - typical Beech!

I would agree. There were two Queen Airs done in the sim world. One was a 2002 sim model by a Japanese builder the other was Mike Stones Queen Air 2002 then 2004(for which there is an FSX Conversion) but alas none had a VC so you have to use the 2D panel. I don't fly sim models with 2D panels so I have left them alone. There are several of these early Beech's that have never really made into the simulation world but they were all good aeroplanes, the Beech Travelair, the Twin Bonanza (yes there is one but it is well very dated), the Duchess, the Queen Airs (A65, 65 and 70). Curiously in OZ the Queen Air was well liked and was the backbone of the light commuter airline market, air freight and the RFDS for years and were quite common for a long time. I have flown them all and the Queen Air was a nice solid aeroplane with no vices that got along at a good clip. What I always like about Beechcraft was the fact that you could move from the Bonanza to the Duchess, to the Queen Air etc and they were all basically similar in the cockpit area in way that made them all feel comfortable like an old shoe.

Can't see anyone doing one though not for FSX which is a shame. The closest thing around is the BE99 by Premier Aircraft Design, I fly that one occasionally and it is not bad either, and there are some mods etc around to make it quite presentable, it has a good interior as well, cargo and passenger.
