I like the looks (Demo)of the alice springs airport by Orbx. Would like to hear any comments from anyone that has it.

Will it work with out FTX Central v3? I have aerosoft ayers rock x install and it doesn't include the Alice springs airport/area. Wonder if the two addon sceneries are compatible

https://orbxdirect.com/product/ybas

I noticed a lot of human animation with the ORBX Alice Springs scenery and just wonder how well it would function as a stand a lone.

I don't quite understand your post. This is an Orbx addon airport (not a demo) and it reqiures FTX Australia, which in turn requires FTX3.

Cheers Chris

Not to mention that Ayer's Rock and Alice Springs are two different areas. Ask over at Orbx for compatibility. You would have to purchase and install Alice Springs through FTX Central, and FTX Australia is required.

I am aware that they are two different areas. I just wanted to know if anyone already has the Alice Springs scenery and if it would work as a standalone.

. . . . .Will it work with out FTX Central v3?
right at the top of the product page:
To download and install this product you will need FTX Central v3 (https://orbxdirect.com/ftxcentral).

I've already installed that and it shows what other orbx products are installed or yet to be installed. I saw that (what you put in red and underlined already) Guess you don't know that if
I didn't mention it eh?

Now if I installed that (and it was free), ya think Alice Springs will work? I should ask jankees, I think I saw somewhere where he has it.

I have both installed and am quite happy with it . I might add that I find Alice Springs an interesting bit of scenery.

Can you post a link to where you got your "free demo" of YBAS Alice Springs. I have all the ORBX Australian products from AU SP4 and all ORBX airports both payware and freeware. And I can tell you now no ORBX airport was free or demo. I would post this over on the ORBX forums along with a link from where you obtained it because I can guarantee if things don't match up you will get an automatic 3 month holiday.

If you are addressing me, I am talking of FTX central and that was free, not alice springs. Please don't confuse the two with what I am trying to say here.
I am tempted to just throw in the towel here.......

If you don't believe me take a gander here mate..... https://orbxdirect.com/ftxcentral

Gray Eagle, no offense but you are the one who caused the confusion in the first place. If you read your initial post you do make it sound like you downloaded a "Demo" of Alice Springs. To continue, yes FTX Central is free but since you must have FTX Central to download and install Alice Springs, your question will Alice Springs work without FTX Central is kind of a mute point. Also it appears that you must have FTX Australia for it to work as well. So bottom line is you can't just purchase Alice Springs and install it as you would any other scenery you purchase, Orbx scenery doesn't work that way. They've changed their system for installing scenery and now registration is maintained and purchases are made thru Orbx and everything is controlled by FTX Central 3.

Good God, I thought I was at flightsim.com for a minute :( To the OP, it's a great scenery and airport but as others have probably said somewhere in there, it probably won't look so good without the underlying FTX AU region. You will no doubt be able to install it without having AU installed but it will probably be missing some library objects and it won't blend with default scenery at the edges. It looks like you will need FTXC3 to get it these days, unless you can find a FVD copy knocking around.

YBAS is featured in this video and also in the first and last minutes of this one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIdQZ8_juQU).

I have YBAS indeed, and love it too, but I also have FTX Australia. I just checked on the webpage of YBAS (https://orbxdirect.com/product/ybas), and it clearly states (at the bottom) that you need FTX Australia, so I don't think it would work as standalone.

I sometimes take the "You require at least one of the following products to use....." with a pinch of salt. For example, I own EU England and EGHR. About the latter ORBX states that you require EU England to use it, but I once installed EGHR without having installed England on one occasion. It wasn't quite as good as with EU England installed , but it does work with no obvious major problems.

On a big flat dry area, it might not be noticeable but in the Pacific NW, not having the region makes the individual airports almost useless because the lakes and streams are not in the correct place on the default so you end up with airports in the water or water runways on land and elevations just a mess.

You can't get anything like this without the Australian package.

Ed,

Sorry the confusion, thought my question was clear, but now the answer is I would need more then FTX central. As it stands now, I recently purchased Aero Soft Ayers Rock and it is nice.
Thought that they would of included their version of Alice Springs but later noticed it did not. I've lost my PW for the Orbx site and have not yet heard from them on that issue.
I tried to create a new account and thru their FTX central and they claim that my email addy was already taken. So, I am "Boxed in" as far as logons go.
In the meantime, I'll look around for another version of Alice Springs, granted it won't have animated people walking around and little birdies chirping which is their signature features.

Thanks for 'splaining things. :untroubled:

Now you have me confused Pat, as Busselton Airport, Cunderdin Airport, Lilydal Airport Launceston Airport Murray Island Airport, Port Lincoln Airport and Redcliffe Airport are all freeware and next to these airports these is the Free Tasmania Demo.

But I guess you already knew that :biggrin-new:

Cheers,

Many 'free' airfields are available for all ORBX regions in fact.
Lilydale is one of my 'go too' regulars, as we lived around the area several years ago, and the detail was very close to the real thing.
