Soon to be the F-35 in my opinion... I am most likely only saying this because my uncle was the chief engineer of this project.

I agree, considering 3 essentially different aircraft (the A,B, and C) are all technically the same.

Yea Corsair if you talking WW2..agree F-15E would probably be the best..with the F-35 taking top spot when/if it enters service.

i think andrex is the worlds best mutli role meself, its both soft and strong at the same time whilst still being durable and can carry a heck of a load.

I dont know what the best multi-role fighter is any more. I think it's quite mission specific any more. The F-18 has certainly proven it's value as a close support multi role fighter, as has the F-16, but then so has the J-10 from the PRC, and the SU-27 from Russia, and the Tornado from Great Britain. I dont fell that the F-15 is multi-role as it's design is air superiority
The F-16, F-18 and SU-27 are pretty even in my opinion, and the tornado is ex-calibre as it can span so many seperate roles and do them equally well..
The F-18s lack of range seems to be it's only weak spot, The F-16 is simply getting old as is the SU-27 and J-10.
The J-12 from the PRC enters service on May 20th of this year, and with the armament load plus maneuvering capabilities it has, i can only come to the conclusion that for at least a couple weeks of time, this plane is going o be the most capable multi-role fighter in the world..

Well the F15E is definitely not designed for the air superiority mission; that variant emphasizes long range strike. A decent overview:

Best current multi role a/c is without a doubt the F-16.

My all time favourite multi role a/c............ the F-4 Phantom.

the Tornado from Great Britain.

You can't really call the Tornado multi-role as one airframe can't do A/A and A/G, and the F.3 isn't that great at A/A anyway.

Current is probably the Super Hornet, it can drop bombs and do A/A in the same mission and there's even some pictures of an F-22 in it's HUD floating around.

All time? McDonald Douglas Phantom 2 Supersonic All Weather Fighter Bomber

VW Combi...;)

:costumes:

IMHO the AH-64D

It can engage tanks, people, buildings, boats etc. And it can perform recce. If all of this fails, it can fly inverted and still be functional as lawnmower :d

But serious: I'd have to agree on the F-35.

Unfortunately, even as a good multirole fighter, the F/A-18 Super Hornet is good at every role, but not excellent at any one. A lot of compromises had to be made on the F/A-18E,F Super Hornet in order for it to meet the requirements.

How can we include the F-35? The plane isn't even in service yet.

F-16.

Best performance/cost combo currently avaiable.
