Afternoon all,

One of our scenery team has created a small piece of scenery for FSX/P3D. This was made for use at Virtual Royal Air Force (vRAF) who operate on the Vatsim network.

The scenery is for Fleetlands Heliport in Hampshire. A few miles to the north east of Lee On Solent airfield. It is on the side of Fleetlands, the company who helps maintain and service RAF/RN/AAC helicopters.
It is also used for practice landings for various helicopters crews.

Only a small release, however still contains custom buildings and includes ground equipment!

Currently we are working on 2 big RAF Airfield projects which will be announced in time :)

Can download it from flightsim.com freeware library!

Thanks! That looks pretty cool. I will also have to dig my Chinook out of the hangar.

Cheers,

I could have sworn I made a post in this thread, but it seems to have vanished, so I'll try again...
I installed this scenery. Looks very nice, by the way.
Having said that, there is one little problem I have with it: When selecting it as an airport to start from, there is only one starting point. Active Runway is the only choice, which is fine with me, as that's where I usually start. But when starting there, in the Free Flight menu, with the Eagle Rotorcraft B-206, I find myself placed in the middle of the ground floor of the tower!
I have chrash detection turned off, but if I didn't, trying to start in a building can cause some real irritating problems. Is there a way to make the starting point one of the helipads? Or maybe add the helipads in as another possible starting point?
Here is a picture of what I mean:

Thank for an otherwise very nice scenery!

Yup.. I noticed this too Pat. The airport datum is based on (centred on) the Tower which is why you start there (as there are no taxiways/runways e t c). What I did was drag the datum position from the Tower to one of the helipads using ADE;)

Well, I'll give it a try, but I know less than nothing about scenery modification and ADE, other than the name. I see a steep learning curve ahead :D
Thanks for the hint! I'll try to see what I can do. I WAS hoping that the folks who made it originally would put out a patch, or modification for it.
But if not, I'll give my hand a try at scenery modification. I learn something new every day, if I'm not very careful! :D

I know what you mean Pat.. scenery fiddling isn't my forte either!! This is easy though as there are no nodes/parking spots to bu99er up. Open up ADE.. navigate to your Fleetlands scenery.. select EGVF_ADEX_MK.bgl and open it. Zoom in and you'll see a red crosshair centred over the Tower. Click on the red crosshair and drag it to one of the landing spots then save. Make sure it saves in the Fleetlands scenery folder then close ADE. Look in the scenery folder for the file you just saved (all of mine are suffixed DB so its an easy spot) then rename the original to BAK. A two minute job even for a duffer like me:biggrin-new:

I thought its correct name was RNAY Fleetlands? As its not really a Heliport in general use.

That's how I remember it too Pete. Not sure it's RN anymore. A quick check on Wiki shows it went from RNAY Fleetlands to DARA Fleetlands and in Feb 2008, to Vector Aerospace and renamed Fleetlands. There ya go!!

Thanks for the quick lesson, Dave. That will help a pure tyro like me :)
Appreciate it.
Have fun!

Looks good!

Also, I had no idea vRAF had a rotary-wing element...

I will have a look at the ADE, issue we had was we put parking spots with no taxi/runways etc, ADE didn't like it. I'll update the datum and more in on to pad 1 ;) Sorry missed your post DaveB on CBFS, first day back back on computer!

I know the RAF/AAC/RN still use there for practice and maintenance flights into Fleetlands itself, but no longer military operated.

vRAF does have 27 Sqn, however it is currently a secondary duty and not enough people want to fly helicopters.

No problem Matt:encouragement: Fleetlands is really a fly to rather than fly from place anyway. I nice little scenery small enough not to make my HD shudder!! Only problem is.. its but a stones throw away from a Portsmouth scenery I did and that stops my rig if I stay there too long:biggrin-new:

Very nice add-on scenery Matt, thank you very much for letting us have this!
I took these screenshots to show how well it fits in with ORBX FTX EU Eng. scenery.
(Will you be releasing a patch for the starting point error?)

Chipshop (and anyone else).. here is the ADEX mod I did for Fleetlands StartFix (http://daveb.cbfsim.org/public/EGVF_ADEX_DB.zip)

Drop the enclosed .bgl into your Fleetlands/Scenery folder and rename EGVF_ADEX_MK.bgl to EGVF_ADEX_MK.bak then save (should you want to go back to it).

Matt.. if you're not happy with me posting this, I'll remove it:encouragement:

Thanks Dave!
I am NOT a scenery type, so this is a huge help. I sure appreciate it :D
