Hi,

Removing some dust from my British Pacific Fleet AIcarrier formation and are searching for a King George V class battleship. I know about the full model by deltasim, but I have not yet found a model for ai use.

Do any of you know about a King George class which is suitable for AI work?

I'm not sure if one of the CFS2 guru's has done one JensOle. I've tried pulling the DS KG5 through MCX and while I've had some success (the blind leading the blind!!) I can't get it bang on. Thought I'd done it until I noticed the anchor chain is still there:banghead: It would help if I knew what I was doing:mixed-smiley-027:

Slightly off-topic but my Grandad served on King George V during WW2 and I thought you might like to see a couple of the photos. He even got to visit Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped and we've still got the burnt (and hopefully not too radioactive!) bank note that he brought back with him. Fascinating stuff - although he actually hated being at sea and wanted to join the RAF bomber crews (thankfully he didn't succeed otherwise I probably wouldn't be here).

Didn't notice KG5 there mate. The DS model is stunning but it doesn't react well to being AI.. the main guns go to broadside position and I'm sure there are one or two other things that do their own thing. As mentioned above, I managed to get the guns fwd/aft but couldn't resolve the anchor chain. Looking again.. it seems I couldn't resolve the gangways being down either!! Still.. the guns look better and the paint is dark enough for the anchor chain and gangways to be near invisible unless you're up close..

Great pics!

Maybe one of the ship guys here at the forum can give you helping hand! The KG5 would looks smashing in the BPF scheme of light grey with dark fake ship outline :-) It would work as a Howe stand in as well :-)

I had to do this Just for you Martyn :encouragement: ..... and the rest off ya, I was told on Tuesday by a school teacher, (I was showing her my Flight Simulation setup) it needed a dusting down, almost ideal outside Battleship weather for that :very_drunk:

Love ya Screens Dave :untroubled: .. I got caught up on the Kaikoura Peninsular, mentioned a pack of 'Fish and Chips' was brilliant (Crayfish out of season) even our German friends put the anchors on simply because of the cooking whiffing through the air ... course a :very_drunk: to follow.

KG5 would indeed be nice...... but Whoa! :icon_eek: What about that Nelson Class BB. I luv the look of them. Just strike me as so powerful and majestic - if a little odd. :) I didn't know they were available. Am off to find her in the library.

I take it you got the fish'n'chips for free having your guns brought to bear!:encouragement: Looking at that shot, I remember now I had to kill all the lights too;) Great model BTW.

Yup.. Rodney and Nelson are available here and at Simviation. I darkened the decks a little on mine! The odd shape is a consequence of the Washington Treaty of 1922 restricting 'new build' warships to 35,000t. Had it not been for this, they'd have looked more conventional. Imagine a much longer stern section in the original design;)

Thanks Dave, Leaving the lights on ... almost like 'Hollywood' style 'Fish'n'Chips' only reason the 'Graf Spee' found us ... or maybe ? :encouragement:

Possibly the best freeware King George V

It can be converted using MCX, but doesn't seem to be downloadable at present. It may be possible to contact the modeller.

Probably.. I'll take a look:encouragement:

A very quick run through MCX.. threw up the usual errors but came out useable

Not brilliant as far as FSX quality ships go but more than adequate to make up the numbers. She's in BPF colours too!

Considering when she was made, not too shabby.

PS. there are loads of CFS2 ships, many lower poly or Multi-LOD, great for large numbers to make up fleets without bringing the sim to it's knees. Hopefully many would convert.

Yup.. a large percentage of my FSX warships are CFS2 conversions done by Lazarus. I pulled HMS Hood v2 this evening but can't see anything else I'd want.

If anyone wants POW, drop me a PM and I'll upload it;)

Its amazing how the silhouette changed so quickly, the ole Prince of Wales almost looks naked compared to the other in the class in less than a few years. Looking Great Dave :encouragement:

DaveB

Yes Ian.. she's missing a lot of detail when compared to the DS model which doesn't help. Probably a little low in the water too so I'll bring her up a few feet.

This model should be more than enough for a bpf carrier escort stand inn 👍 Just need some new paint and fake silhouett.

Agree mate.. she's certainly fit for duty. I'm not that struck on the 'dazzle' scheme so hopefully.. you'll make your repaint available:encouragement:

HMS Howe has been observed in the Pacific.. Leading Task Force 37 with Victorious, Formidable, Swiftsure and several destroyers visible in the screenshot.

Makes me want to try and get Silent Hunter III working on W10. (Grey Wolves too of coarse). I did look into it, but I gave up as the fixes were quite complex IIRC. May just have to try again.
