vc texture set for the classic MD-80 by LSH (initially released back in 2008):

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=117&linkid=21855

one of the best fs9/fsx models ever released but the vc looked a little dated so decided to freshen things up a little. The night lighting was always a little weak so reworked that as well.

Thank you! I agree that the MADDOG was the finest MD 80 out there and now this panel puts it right back at the top!

This looks awesome! Too bad the bird does not work in P3Dv3.

If any one wants to add a First Officer and Jumpseat view just add this to your aircraft cfg:

[CameraDefinition.001]
Title = "First Officer"
Guid = {8ff6c134-098d-409f-baec-caba3f683f99}
Origin = Virtual Cockpit
MomentumEffect = No
SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel
SnapPbhReturn = False
PanPbhAdjust = Swivel
PanPbhReturn = False
Track = None
ShowAxis = YES
AllowZoom = TRUE
InitialZoom = 0.45
SmoothZoomTime = 2.0
ZoomPanScalar = 1.0
ShowWeather = Yes
XyzAdjust = TRUE
ShowLensFlare=FALSE
Category = Cockpit
PitchPanRate=80
HeadingPanRate=80
panacceleratortime=00
InitialXyz=1.0,0.00,0.0 //(feet) , lateral, vertical distance, longitudinal from reference datum
InitialPbh=2, 0, 0

[CameraDefinition.002]
Title = "Jump Seat"
Guid = {e621ee4f-67b2-473c-a7b2-51fc4de17273}
Origin = Virtual Cockpit
MomentumEffect = No
SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel
SnapPbhReturn = False
PanPbhAdjust = Swivel
PanPbhReturn = False

Very nice job.As an AA mechanic at ORD I spend a lot of time in the left seat of our -80s.I feel right at home there so I can vouch for the authenticity.
Your VC textures really breath new life into that great aircraft.
Are you planning the same treatment for the blue version?

Thank you for updating the textures on this classic, and for reminding me what an excellent sim this is. The graphics are a bit dated (which the new textures help a lot!) but the systems implementation has never been surpassed in the FSX world so far as I know, and rarely equaled.

I dusted it off, updated the textures, and I'm enjoying it again as much as ever.

No other airplane, bar none, feels as real as this one does to me operationally. It's the quirks and imperfections that make it that way. The way, sometimes, in cold weather, you need to reset the APU generators to get them to connect. Or how the APU start sometimes fails. And the very real worry about a hot start when you're firing up the engines.

And that tendency to pitch up when you first connect the A/P that you have to be ready for.

Thank you.

update at same location.

NEW for v1.3:
1) Switch lights tweaked (fire handle illumination, reverse thrust lights with proper black lettering, warning/caution/stall light halo, TRP buttons, etc.)
2) Overhead switch visibility improved at night, needles tinted to match gauge lights
3) Sun visor transparency restored for DX10

Hi kdfw, like you I count the MD80 as my favourite A/C, it was my first full fixed wing engineering licence back in the day, I tried your update but I'm afraid I had problems with it, many of the panels were crystal clear but the main panels , the coaming the Overhead and the centre consul were blurred and I was forced to reset it to the original textures, it was probably something I did, or maybe my rig isn't man enough for this upgrade, I have a AS- Rock N68C-S with a Navidia GT610 vid card, can you help? any thing that keeps this bird flying is good in my book.

perhaps you need to see if high res 3d cockpit is checked on the aircraft option in the graphics settings?

aside from that, some of the textures are 2x of the originals so maybe your setup isn't able to handle modest increase in texture size.

good luck.

My suggestion would be to avoid the problem that the original textures have and resave the FSX version as DXT5 instead of DXT3 which are FS2004 specific.
