While waiting for a needed information to continue the Incheon Landing scenery, i decide to make another US airbase from World War II. Something that matches the Emirau Island 1944 i did in the past. So my decision was to do the Green Island Airbase (today its called Nissan Island Airport (AYIA) ) the US forces build up in 1944. From this airbase attacks are launched to Rabaul.

Green Island Airbase had been given two runways an everyone has got an own name. First one is called Lagoon Airfield.... the second one is called Ocean Airfield. Bothe togehter had been named as Green Island Airbase.

From Wikipedia : "The New Zealand 3rd Division (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_Division_%28New_Zealand%29) landed on Nissan Island (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Green_Islands) on 15 February 1944 as part of the Solomon Islands campaign (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solomon_Islands_campaign). The U.S. Navy 22nd Construction Regiment (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seebee) landed with the New Zealanders and began building support facilities. Work on a fighter airstrip began on 20 February and by 5 March a coral-surfaced 5,000 feet (1,500 m) by 150 feet (46 m) fighter runway known as Lagoon Airfield was ready for use and aircraft carried out the first attack on Kavieng (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kavieng). In late March a parallel 6,000 feet (1,800 m) by 150 feet (46 m) bomber runway known as Ocean Airfield was ready for use, it was later lengthened to 7,300 feet (2,200 m). Additional airfield facilities such as road and taxiways and a tank farm were also constructed. Construction had been extremely difficuly with dense foliage and large trees needing to be removed, rock blasting was necessary, and all coral used for filling had to be quarried at distant locations."

I think it would not take to long to end this scenery. Islands are ready, landclasses are done and the airbase also is nearly ready. I will do a big airtraffic (like Emirau Islands 1944) for this one too.

First a little map that shows where this airbase took place.

Islands and the airbase are nearly ready. So its time for a little testing first AI-Traffic. Did some repaints for the Dauntless SBD from Marine Torpedo Bombing Squadron 341 that was on this island just in this time.
You can see.... first flight plans are ready too.

Japanese airbase at Rabaul (first shots....wip)

This airbase will also be part of this scenery. So all the jap fighter will have a homebase to fly off. And you will have a target where you can go from Green Islands.

All other things are ready now. Green Islands are ready, air traffic is ready, ship traffic is ready. Just doing some little testing and will end Rabaul airbase. Also i have to write the readme. Think this upcoming weekend it will be uploaded (hope i will not find big mistakes during the testing)

Thanks for the kind words :jump:

During the next time i will do some continius work on the Incheon scenery and just have started another pacific scenery for world war II......

...... perhaps you will guess what it will be

http://www.caribican.de/Green Islands/pel1.jpg

The leading officer thougt it would take 3 ...perhaps only 2 .... days to take this island. Just he was wrong. The battle for this island takes over 2 month till US-Marines secure this little island. There was a very high casualty rate for the Marines.

Postwar statisticians calculated that it took US forces over 1500 rounds of ammunition to kill each Japanese defender, and that during the course of the battle, the Americans expended 13.32 million rounds of 30-calibre, 1.52 million rounds of 45-calibre, 693,657 rounds of 50-calibre bullets, 118,262 hand grenades and approximately 150,000 mortar rounds.

Ah, a tricky one Klaus, it took a bit of research as there were three or four islands I could think of based on your description.

It is Peleliu, Palau.

Corsairs are black. the Venturas and PBJ's are ok . AI taxing and taking off ok . Running all of my war sceneries on FSXSE with DX10 Fixer . Are these Corsairs static or AI ? I don't recall any other of my sceneries with this problem . I have not tried turning the DX 10 Preview off yet to see if that works but I'm about to . Excellent scenery by the way . Don't have any problems with Rabaul . I do have sliders maxed out .

Corsairs are AI aircraft... so they will move like all the others.

On my computer they work fine, as you can see on the pictures. But may be that the uploaded file is not ok.

Could you please download folloing file ? Unpack and overwright the existing ai corsair please. Hope that will stop the problem.

That did the trick Klaus and thank you for another excellent scenery . I use Internet Download Manager so maybe it had a little glitch but the problem was certainly on my end . All is well now . I went South-South East to Buka for a little morning coffee but the Japanese were not very friendly and started shooting me . :rocket:

Sorry about this Klaus but I only have B-25's, PV-1's, PBY's and Bettys when I start at Green Island. No Corsairs. No Zero's. I have re-downloaded the AI in the main scenery folder several times now and also from the link you posted just above.

It is strange because I believe you have all your aircraft AI in one Traffic.bgl (Traffic_NAVY_FSX.bgl, located in my Emirau Island scenery folder) and it should not be showing just some, but not all, traffic (??). I don't think I have decompiled and changed that Traffic.bgl - I don't think TTools would let me. Grateful for any tips.

This scenery and whole concept of opposing forces AI is terrific - I will be spending a lot of time here!

Thanks,

No Corsairs. No Zero's.

Do You use P3D od FSX? In P3Dv4 I have the same, model of Corsair (FS9) isn't compatible with P3D.

I noticed also AI problems with (in P3Dv4):

B29, SBD-5, B24 (which has bugs in aircraft.cfg and whole sim has a problem with this AI) and PV-1, B-25 is ok but he flies with main gear in down position always :].

I especially care SBD-5 and F4U, pity..... in P3D models are not visible (BUT they are present, I see lights for example).
They are very old models remembering times of FS2004 :), better was to take newer, for FSX for example.

I'm working for update for P3Dv4 but have problem to contact with Klaus for permission: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/107214-Solomon-1943-in-P3Dv4-(no-taxiway)?p=1105411&viewfull=1#post1105411

btw.
I noticed also that Klaus requires Mike's Solomons islands and... did Rabaul for Green Island but in this Mike addon Rabaul is present (from 2013) so I noticed double overlapping sceneries with big FPS hit:

http://i.imgur.com/He7gGHat.jpg (https://imgur.com/He7gGHa)

solved it, I removed

AYRB_ADEX_ADE.bgl and AYRB_ADEX_ADE_CVX.bgl

of Klaus scenery and it looks like this (I had 2 kind of sceneries on the same place):

Hi Yo Yo,

I have just moved from FSX to P3D (v4) and also face similar problems with finding WW II Pacific aircraft models that will work as AI in this scenery and Mark's terrific Solomon Island scenery. As you and others know, we are limited to only using native FSX models. I have the John Young B-25's showing up but they are parked 6 feet in the air! Finding Corsairs and Dauntless models for AI will be a challenge. I have also started some AI set in 1960's Vietnam and have been converting mostly Alphasim native FSX models for AI and these work pretty well without too bad an fps hit in P3D.

About this model AI of Corsair I tried to convert using Model Convrter X but the final was funny, I saw it in P3D (this was ok) but it looks like s-f monster with mix of parts, no joy :biggrin-new:.

Here is this model, maybe someone wants to check/fix this mdl (FS9>P3D), it will be nice :wavey: :

I will try using the A2A Corsair and RF Hellcat models - should be ok if I only have few parked and a couple doing TNG's - which is how I do most of my AI traffic.
