If you look at the link you'll see it has some extra characters after the zip name. Remove those & the link works.

Are the Garmins modeled in 3D and permanent elements in the VC?

If there's one repaint that needs to be done for this model it is a reversion to ole #13, White Lightnin'. Any takers?

Thanks

Cool! I already own it, but maybe this will spur the creation of some new repaints!

I like that White Lightning above, and some "restored" WWII schemes would be cool as well!

The Garmins are 3D mesh Custom Milviz 430 530 units , not compatible with replacement by F1 or other.

After my skepticism about Milviz (my 350 issue) I must add, this did come as a surprise and might also sway me back to rethink my stance about Milviz.

Thank you milviz, much appreciated.

Feared as much. Thanks, guys.

Immersion whimpers and cowers in the corner as I am throwing a privately owned airplane around the sky of Ronnie Raygun's USA with more advanced technology in the cockpit than any (back then) bird in the armed forces' arsenal could muster.

Or take the full version of military P-38L: http://milviz.com/flight/products/P38L/index.php ;) .

Not only internally, but externally there are details on this aircraft that aren't true to any production Lightning during WWII either (that goes for the real aircraft just as it goes for the superb FS model). This is a one-off, just as the real aircraft is, restored to be a solid, regular flyer, as well as a piece of art when on display.

And just as a reminder, the aircraft isn't based in the US, it is based in Austria (it was restored in the US, for Red Bull), and is flown at airshows all over Europe, not the US.

As for available repaints, Gordon Madison did some very nice ones (note, with this model, you can't repaint the polished prop spinners, so any repaint for it will have to make do):

A more accurate depiction of the real aircraft (i.e., all of the Red Bull markings/titles applied): http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=184&linkid=17102
Polished, with no markings: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=184&linkid=17104
No-polish, no markings: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=184&linkid=17103

BTW, thank you very much Milviz for the very generous offering!!

Thank you for the free gift of the P38.

Now I have read the operating instructions and still cannot find where the lower left corner of the instrument panel is so that I can hide the yoke.

Greetings

WARNING TO P3D USERS: this freeware version does not work in P3D. I downloaded and selected P3Dv3 version from the installer, but on launch, a dialog box comes up and indicates this version is ONLY for FSX and it then forces P3D shut down.

A bit disappointing because I really like Milviz products and had been thinking of buying this one, but was holding off til after vacation expenses.

Oh well!

Strange, i just did a fly with it here in my P3Dv3.3.5. No problems at all (Aside a little FPS hit).
The installer even identified correctly my p3dv3 install folder.

Confirmed. No any problem also with installation for P3Dv3.

It's been done (https://www.flickr.com/photos/121556714@N07/albums/72157659003306911) for the L variant. FSD anyway .. not sure if the palette works on the MilViz version.

no, you can use the free panel to show 2d gauges like the rxp gns 530 and asn freeware wx radar like this:

with wx radar, the nose needs to be pained non-metalic to make it look realistic.

That's a great link fsafranek.

Really brings home the extra work load placed on the trailing pilot (ie Corsair). While the Lightning jock has time to look around, the Corsair pilot is flying with his eyes glued onto the P-38.

Flying in Squadron formation (especially the pre 1940 British fashion) must have been a nightmare.

the FSD is the milviz version, mv took back the model and re released it with more enhancements

you would be surprised on how many developers have bought MV models and released them including some from Alphasim, vertigo and iris to name a few

Perhaps my previous question was overlooked ^. I read the accompanying instructions concerning yoke removal. Problem is, I didn't find that "Sweet spot" in the left corner of the instrument
panel near the fuel gauge that was mentioned. I'm looking for clues to better find that area I need to click on the remove the yoke. No pictures were in the instructions to go on just verbiage.

Thanks.

Will any WWII era paints in the SOH Library for the "other" Milviz P-38 - or the FSD model fit this one?

That is an obsolete MilvizSound.gau file. Check to ensure you don't have an older version of that file in your ..\Gauges folder.

Alternatively, copy the version in the P-38's ..\panel folder to your sim's ..\Gauges folder, over-writing one that may already be there.
