While back someone adjusted the Alpha PBY5A for me (slips my mind who at this moment, will have to search back) so could use it as AI plane and not have the CTD.Just discovered can not get any of the skins out there for the -5A to work, so currently and stuck with the black cat skin.Anyone know the issue? Can send the file.Any help would be appreciated.

Dasuto, is it the PBY5A you need? I can only recall the PBY5 mdl fix ( http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?96605-Pby5 ), although I may also have posted the -5A mdls elsewhere.

& since then Shessi did an excellent reworked PBY5 ( http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=52&id=20282 )

I think the PBY5A is represented by the VN_PBY5a as reworked by Allen for now.

Yes, it's the PBY-5A I need.Believe it was you who sent me a mdl file with the crash fix.Unfortunately none of the skins available will work for it now.Just wondering if there is a fix. I have the Shessi PBY5, works great.Beepee put out a US(blue and white star roundel) skin and RNZAF skin for the ALPHA PBY-5A, just need them to work with the MDL that has the crash fix.

Dasuto,

Beepee's early USN + RNZAF skins are actually for the non-amphibian PBY5 (note the screengrabs, no fuselage wheels).

Try this pack, also by Beepee http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=57&id=15051

It shows that the critical bmps to repaint/ over-write/ rename are the ones starting with "PBY_USBlack...", these are the texture names called for by the PBY5A model.

Hope this helps. If you're looking for something more specific, give me a clue as to what you're after :playful: & I'll see what can be sorted.

Get out the Hex editor and remove the crash_check or lightstate.

crash_check bytes = b4 ad ec 0e 24 17 c6 41 b9 77 d8 7a 4c 95 44 e8

lightstate bytes = 9D E9 F0 57 23 05 9C 4E BC B6 12 BB 2F E7 3F 06

Uncle,

Thanks for the link, those skins worked with the Alpha 5A even with model fix.I am looking for a light blue skin such as the texture fg enclosed in the file you posted(link) he 1942 blue paint job, with blue on white roundel with star(no bars) and minus the nose art. That should work for Midway PBY-5A's during June 42. I have one says its for the Alpha 5A( thought it was from beepee) but do not work since use the model with the crash fix.

Dasuto,

I created this using Beepee's 1942 USN paint for the PBY5, just by renaming the bitmaps.

Replace "...NavyYellow..." with "...USBlack..." & delete any "..._t" (most of them)off the end. Quick & dirty but it gets you something you can use fast.
