Hi all,

I was searching the web to see what identifiers a Bf110 trop has versus a standard Bf110. I wasn't able to see any tropical filters on any of the photos available, so can anyone clarify this?

Thanks,

TW

Donīt really know if any Bf110 variant could be converted to Trop, but this is true for any E type. Appart from the particularities for the standard-110-variant, every Trop had a dust filter on the port wing air intake and the engine nacelles were redesigned to feature deeper oil-cooler housings.

Hi Ikewe,

Thanks for the info.

I think the closest you can come to is Paul Straney's 110's. I don't think they have the air filters but you can get the camouflage, large drop tanks and extended rear fuselage (tail) life raft container used for over the water Med missions.

I have the gMax file for my bf110 still....

or

could make a dust filter for the port wing for Paul Straney's 110s

Hi guys,

Allen, I get the best frame rates from all your models, including your 110 (about 62.5 fps as opposed to 43 fps for Tango's and about 28 for Straney's)...so if you could do a Bf110 tropicailzed version using your model, that would be great! Since we're on the subject, would it be possible to make a MkIIc Trop and MkIId Trop from your Hurricane MkI source file? I'll have an MTO/ North African install with nearly all "Allen" planes! :jump:

Very kind regards,

TW

Models should be no prob. Not sure if it would be woth the trouble elongating the Bf110 tail. Also not sure how much longer the tail was made.

Doing textures could be the bigest prob. The Hurricane should be easier as it uses texture by Sopwith Chameleon for Mauro's Hurricanes. Looks like Sopwith Chameleon has made some MKII Trop textures. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=58&linkid=1207 The Bf110 texture is going to be harder.

Hi Allen,

I would even be happy with a desert skin for your current bf110 model, that would work.

Thanks,

Typhoon Willy,

For Thicko's Gladiators, there is the option of a tropical filter as a payload option. Perhaps something could be done with a payload option in that fashion?

I lean toward Tango Romeo's Bf-110c and Groundcrew's Bf-110e myself, but to each their own. :very_drunk:

Typhoon Willy is in the same boat as me. We can't use fancy polygon hogs. If i recall right Typhoon Willy is using and old laptop and my PC is vintage 2003 hardware..

Allen is correct in that I'm using an older laptop, so I am continually searching for, and making comparisons between various authors' works. Being old doesn't always mean it's out of date. In my N. Africa install, for example, I'm using Bruno Duffort's P-40B in RAF desert colors and it looks excellent, IMHO, and getting 62.5 fps against a clear sky with 15 miles visibility (with "best graphics" setting). :jump:

You Laptop is prob better than my PC. CPU is a Pentium 4 at 2.53 GHz, Card is GeForce4 MX 440 and 1GB of RAM.

Sweeeeet! It's looking real nice!

I have a Compaq C571NR laptop: Pentium Dual Core T2080 1.73 Ghz processor with an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM.

Not a lot better than me over all. Your CPU, Card and RAM is better but Win7 probably uses the difference at idle.

Also uploaded the Bf110e Trop. No idea when it will be approved.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - German

Description: Fully animated parts. Breaking parts plus damage texture logics as well. Model is Multi LOD with working virtual cockpit. Skin template is included in the textue folder for your painting pleasure. You will need a program that can read .PSD to use them. The inlcuded texture is of a E-2 Trop of the 7./ZG 26 in 1942.

Allen, that is awesome! Glad you are able to adapt SC's skin to your plane, besides, I imagine that would save a lot of work as well.

Textures for the Hurricane isn't too hard as I use the same exterior texture as Mauro's Hurricanes. Sopwith Chameleon already has a nice library of texture that I can use. Only need to make some quick damage textures for the fuse and wings.

Work on the Mk.IIc. Again uses Sopwith Chameleon textures.

Model, texture and DP work are done on the Mk.IIc and Mk.IId. Now to get all of the things typed and zipped up.

Thanks for all your hard work, Allen, I look forward to attacking some "enemy" airfields, supply convoys, and tank columns!
