Holy moly,
I fear this will be a must have for me.
Have seen one of these a few times the last days over my workingplays, flying some nice curves over the runway.
Hopefully it won't be too expensive....

As much as I like the aircraft, the cockpit shots are a kind of hybrid, the Dornier 228 is a hands on aircraft with no autopilot and steam guages, where as the latest incarnation the Do228NG does have an autopilot or weather radar as an optional extra but it also has a glass cockpit as standard.

I'm almost tempted to get it, because I love that plane and for once, Carenado chose a version WITHOUT glass cockpit !
But 40 dollars... What new features did Carenado add to their planes compared to older models ?
Realistic turbo-prop engine handling ?
Failures/tear/wear ?
Realistic startup procedures and avionics ?
Or is it still in the Carenado traditional style, which means "like a default aircraft, but with a nicer shape and a nice flight model" ?

It does look temptung. Im just a little confused as to what is being modeled. What am I getting for the $40? Systems etc? One thing personally, I feel like for $40 I should be getting a paint kit with PSD's at the least since many devs who charge less provide these. Not just the blank texture, but that's my opinion. The blank texture is not ideal to work with and extremely limiting. My while issue with the Alabeo/Carenado product is that for $10 more I'm into either VRS, A2A, or Milviz territory. A product is worth what people will pay for it I suppose. I'm just flabbergasted when I read their Facebook page....same people, same deer in the headlight praise and then same complaints....over and over and over. As always it's interior/exterior visuals are impecable. No Glass, so it should be an FPS lightweight...hopefully!

But, as I always say with Carenado, modelling and textures looks amazing (TM)

Finished two more today. Also reworked the interior - grey panels and seats. Unfortunately Carenado had mirrored the Underwing-textures, so it is not possible to add a Underwing-Registration to the euopean Repaints. Maybe they will update this - we will see ...... :mixed-smiley-010:

For that amount of money I would have expected at least a dedicated model for the Dutch Coast Guard livery, that included the sensor equipment... :mixed-smiley-010:

Good job on the interior. For some reason, I really like light blue panels on my aircraft. Any chance of doing one in light blue or pass on the secrets on how to do it?

Many thanks for your work.

There is nothing special with the change of the interior-color, simple color-reduce of the blue in GIMP - and then copy and paste of parts in Paint.

Fireball - Just some friendly criticism on the last of the 3 planes - the U.S. registered one. All U.S. registrations begin with N. After that, there can be up to 5 more digits. They can be 5 numbers, N51167, they can be 4 numbers and a letter, N5116Y, or they can be three numbers and 2 letter, N511YH. There are never more than 2 letters at the end.

One painted as a FedEx Feeder and or UPS Expediter would be really neat to see. I worked for a company that looked real serious at the Do-228 for hauling freight. The Dollar and "sense" didn't add up at the time....Was expensive to acquire, but would have made a great freighter!

I did a youtube search to get some opinions on the D-228 and happened on this channel that seems dedicated to addressing the real world issues of switching from the Tri islander to the DO for the Channel Islands.
It is unique in that the small population of the Islands gives it a passionate view on the change. The problems of ageing aircraft reliability vs growing pains on a new aircraft causing delays, one pilot vs two pilot operations and the communities affection for G-JOEY all make for some interesting viewing (for me at least) I thought some here might find it adds a bit of flavor for their simulated 228 operations.

All,

I haven't decided whether to upload and share all of these yet. They are all custom paints that I use personally. I've already had requests from folks to email everything to them. I got out of painting for a few years as my email inbox was a never ending request for paints. I have uploaded the yellow and black livery to a Dropbox location that anyone who clicks on this link can download that bird with a generic registration in a completely finished version.

I will consider whether to add more. Thanks for your understanding.

The Gray with Red stripes version is now uploaded to the SOH library. There are 3 available now in the SOH library. I will probably kill that Dropbox location since the yellow/black one is now in SOH.

Love the repaints by Steve Stubbs. Thank you very much, my friend.

Found a mixup in the one for the Hidden Valley Resort. The registration in the cfg file entry did not match the texture. Made them match and all is well.

Off to learn how to fly this baby now that I have a repaint that I really like.

Thanks again for a beautiful livery. :applause:

My contribution : A repaint of the Carenado payware aircraft. Textures based on a real 228-300 United Nations Humanitarian Air Service scheme.
