Stepped back... left it for a few days.. came back, fixed a couple of minor mapping issues, and the size (aspect ratio) of the flag on the fin.. how did I not notice that??? :banghead: and I think I'm done... Working on the read me (history of airplane etc.) and including a couple of 'options' to the paint scheme in the form of alternate texture files, and once done, will upload the file. Cheers...and HAPPY CANADA DAY to my fellow canucks on Saturday! 150th birthday!

Ok, to get the correct positioning of the hoist, I need to ask, if I may, Mr. Kalong, sir: Is the hoist door the one you can see on the bottom of the aircraft, roughly between the main gear doors? Is that the one you're animating? Or is it the dark circle on the bottom, just forward of the rear ramp hinge point? Just wondering. I'd like to make the hoist come down from the correct place, or at least the door you're animating, anyway :D Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Pat☺

For the longest time I had the P3D developers license at the "LOW LOW PRICE OF ONLY 9.95 A MONTH, CALL NOW, OPERATORS ARE STANDING BY!" Sorry, about that, but I continue. 10$ a month is pretty easy even if it does add up to 200 by the time the next version comes out. I finally ended up getting the academic version for 60, many because some add-ons were cheaper in academic and others, like tacpack are only available for academic. I was also worried that when V4 came out I would not be able to by V3 and paying the monthly fee forever. Turns out that's not the case, you can still buy V1 but I don't regret getting Academic over Pro, only difference is a small white 'Academic Version' watermark in the upper right corner of the screen.

Continuing to Chignik... Not sure what this rock is but it is dramatic. After flying through some fog the weather finally cleared up.

April 15, 1924: By 11 am they were ready for the 425 mile flight to Chignik. Only Major Martin in Seattle had difficulty taking off and had to take three attempts to get in the air. For the next four hours, the flight was uneventful and enjoyable but stiff head winds slowed them down. Harding recalled “The clear deep blue water below, clear skies above, and snow covered peaks and glaciers on our right were beyond description in beauty and splendor” . The other crews noticed that Seattle had dropped down to lower altitude and was staying near the rear of the formation. All but Martin decided to go over a mountain while he tried to go around it. When they reached Cape Igvak Seattle could not be seen in the thick haze, but with the strong head winds they did not have the fuel to go back...

Why does everyone call sim purchases an 'investment'? It's actually just a purchase. it is just a sim 'engine', for want of a better explanation. It's intrinsic value is dependant on what you buy to feed it. It certainly does not increase in value. Or is it a nice way of justifying money spent on something that is 'not for entertainment'? (only an investment for P3D, & a purchase for FSX, as FSX is for entertainment?) Semantics, maybe, but please excuse me, I have not had my morning coffee & donut yet.

Jeansy and JanKees, thanks for the Aussie repaints for the MV Beaver. I said it was what it would take to ditch the default and go to MILVIZ. Thanks all.

The name of that wee bird is quite frequently used for small aircraft. I think one could easily find more than five different designs beginning in 1921.
