    A white-knuckle mission, 33Lima! One thing that the multiple BOB global layers will offer, is I've set up unneeded RAF airbases with flags ="isFactory". This opens up the possiblity of flying as a German bomber pilot, attacking airfields. Not sure how comfortable you would be switching sides in such a treacherous manner :mixed-smiley-010:

    Hi 33 Lima, What is not explained fully, is that there is still an option to fly for country=British, because the great majority of aircraft are still British. It may be that flying the basic Allied campaign as a British pilot (Option 1) will work best for a bombing career - I could add missions specific for the bombers to the Allied version of the campaign. There are specific campaigns to use for careers as 10 Group, 11 Group or 12 Group pilots. I have added fighters with specific skins to 10 Group, 11 Group, and 12 Group. I've left the original models of BOB hurris and spitfires, so as not to create problems for the missions. I've simply created new aircraft where there are Group-specific skins. At present, there are only a single spitfire, hurrican and blenheim for each...

    Sorry for not getting back here. Had a major PC crash. Lost boot drive (everything on the desktop) and main program drive (documents folder was the big loss). Backups were not complete so slowly rebuilding everything. What I'm looking for is the AoA bracket symbol that appears when the gear is lowered. It is a vertical one sided rectangle that helps you align with the touchdown area of the runway. Someone had made a small freeware utility that added this to an existing HUD. But I can't remember who now. :ernaehrung004:

    Yes, that's the one. Try lowering to 0.75. If still to abrupt, lower it a tenth. 0.65, for example. You want it set to where the nose gear stops a little short of the end of the deck. Enough to turn back onto the rest of the carrier, if you see my meaning. Another possibility, and this is useful if the plane veers too easily to one side or another when it catches the wire as well, is to move the hook's longitudinal position rearward some. Use 10 foot increments, and shorten to zero in on the correct setting. The farther aft it is, the less it will veer in an off-centerline trap. You don't want TOO much, or it will allow the plane to run off the end of the deck. And never veer off centerline, no matter where on the wires it catches, left/right.     Thanks for the thought guys, and all valid. Yes Jamie, that may be the answer, that would have to rely on the aircraft.cfg which has all the spec data, to tell the sim where the ac datum points are. A bit experimentation and then ve vill see! Cheers Shessi

    Great read and had my own experience the age of the aircraft. Good deal get off the boat early, after the cat launch the nose gear failed to retract, so the crew flew back to Mayport with the gear down.

    That's about where my birthing was on the Forrestal "FID". That was assigned as HS-3 15 man 1st class berthing. It always seemed like an imaginary "X" was painted on the FD directly above marking where the plane captain or blue shirts drop the tow bar. Being that far forward was kinda bouncy when in rough seas. During launches, we'd hear the cat shuttle and could feel it shudder the bulkhead. It was better location then those 40+ birthing areas.

    Itís all I can do to hold her nose up as my aircraft bellies in. At least she doesnít just blow up! Next thing I know, the Blenheim has slid to a stop and Iím in my dingy! Then the bomber sinks below ground level, while I wave for rescue! Afloat on muddy dry land, but dry land nevertheless!
