A quick update... with no pictures. The TA-4J has entered the Beta stage... it usually takes one month before the test and fixes are implemented... so I foresee a release date somwhere in September.

From the British Pathe pictures...it is actually a Kings crown on the crest (which is correct for the period as the queen's coronation wasn't until 1953) Like this..... Note that it is more 'rounded' than Queens.... Not trying to put you down or say that it's a bad repaint or anything, just trying to help :smile-new:

Thanks for posting this Patrick. Great to hear the improvements on the Mirage. I haven't flown it in a while, but really enjoy the Mirage, especially when getting right in to the systems via the campaigns. I just picked up another razbam model too, the Mig-19. I thought I should use my bonus points before I lose them so I picked it up in the Bonus Sale just a few days ago. Cheers,

RAF Museum gave me some data and pics on Monty's C-47. Note I haven't added the roundels on the wings just yet since it's a test model. Also some pic from British Pathe. 1948

Ah yes, XPlane by night is kind of a slap in the face of FSX and P3D. They really managed to make something impressive with their lights. I don't know if you noticed, but all lights are real emissive ones. Here is a stupid example: if you land on the highway; you will notice that not only the light poles illuminate your plane, but also the head lights of the cars and trucs on the road will illuminate you ! The K and L keys will adjust the day time on the fly, just keep them pressed for a slow adjustment... or just SHIFT+K and SHIFT+L for a much faster adjustment :) I would also recommend you to install an addon named vivid sky. It changes the sky colors to give some better rendering, especially and dawn and dusk. In P3Dv4, I'm using the freeware HDEv2.1 package to replace my sky...

The problem is not in the game itself. There is a dll in yourx64 system folder, that runs and causes the problem. It has to be renamed to something else. But go to this page, there is a fix for it, its a small bat file to dl. Will do the renaming of the dll for you. Guys have said it fixed their problem which is just like the one we are talking about here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzmX0_bU30dRaGJWdi1iRnV2S0k/view That's the link for the bat file, just dl it, run it as the Administrator, and see if it helps get this game going again for you. Maybe it will help me get CFS3 up and running again, because the dll was keeping it from starting for me. Here is the page where the bat file is from ...

"L'erreur est humaine" as it say. No Dice did many other things for CFS1 (and 2) that commands our respect and admiration. His site was a trove of knowledge and a corner store for all novelties and "got to have" files. No need for apologies, Aleatorylamp.

Spent the evening getting my very default, bland X-Plane 11 up to basic speed. My first night flight with zero add-ons.... X-Plane won, hands down. Gorgeous and unbelievable night lighting and even colored red tail lights and white headlights on the freeways. Spent a couple hours relearning Ortho4XP, yes I've done it before. Just learning how to get scenery installed, and getting the 8,247 scenery libraries required. 😐🤣 Weather and clouds even at default look amazing in XP-11. Frame rates are steady around 28-36 but for the level of detail I get, I don't care. Planes even bounce a bit as they taxi, uneven runways just like in real life, taxiway lights modeled. Awesome.

I know Montgomery had an ego on the same level as Patton, but why would he fly around in a bird that has his flag rank and insignia on it? That would seem to be a H U G E target. Seems like flying in a normal AC would be better operational security.

Might be something to do with the latest Windows update then. Did you remove the .fx file associated with that .dll?

My favorites, divided by freeware and payware: Payware: A2A Piper Cub with Accu-sim, Carenado Cessna 185 bush plane (with FDE by Bernt Stolle). Freeware: LDR Navion and Mallard, Manfred's C-47, Dave Garwood's Dragon Rapide, Flight 1 Cessna 162, Ant's Tiger Moth, Mario's Piaggio P-180... I think that's it for GA.

Klaus, I have been longing for someone to make the carriers I served on between 1962 and 1970. USS Intrepid CVS-11 (my squadron {HS-3} picked up LCDR Scott Carpenter - Mercury 7 and later Gemini 3 - Grissom and Young {yours truly was the helicopter crewman manning the hoist of A/C #57} - and in March of 1969 onboard the USS Guadalcanal (LPH-7) recovered the crew of Apollo 9 - McDivitt - Scott - Schweickart - last Atlantic recovery) USS Wasp - CVS-18 and USS Yorktown CVS-10 were my other ships. Respectfully asking, with the Hornet and the Valley Forge being close relatives would you consider the above carriers ?
