Just update your card driver, that causes the black screen start up issue.

Still getting to know the sim- Stock vehicle - Carenado Commander 114 - off the coast of the Shetland Islands with FSWX providing the real time weather BKN 2600 ft hazy and light winds. Container ship thanks to Global Ship Traffic AI. Think I will need to turn down the reflections on the water. I am happy with the sky and clouds and real vis restrictions due to hz and lack of light. Seems realistic to me.

Seems funny to put an auto pilot in an airplane.. (sorry John, in my language 'auto' means car... ;-) I do wonder what Rob and Sean think about this. As always Rob's flightmodel for their Marchetti was immaculate, a dream to fly. Will be interesting to see how this MSFS bird will behave. Have to say i LOVE the looks. Both internal and external.

Nice, Tom. Must be a special feeling to be able to sing with your father on stage. Apples don't fall far from the tree, don't they.

My best shot! This replaces anything I've posted before. I've proofed it dozens of times, so I hope there are no consequential errors in it. The object of this procedure is to describe a relatively simple way to employ Wings Over Flanders Fields (WOFF) terrain in CFS3 with as little modification of the latter as possible. There are certainly other ways to do it. Put simply, this works for me! If it's not obvious, the prerequisite for doing this is ownership of WOFF. To sum up what's below in one sentence: Replace the 'assets' and 'terrains' folders in CFS3 with the equivalents from WOFF. That said, to detail the intricacies . . . INITIAL ACTIONS 1. Run WOFF, choose Quick Combat, set the season to 'Summer', fly (even if only briefly), and exit WOFF. 2. Create a folder where you...

No preference or distinction from me, I saw the thread as much needed and in time a sim community resource in this area for all to read or participate in as they feel the need like the rest of SOH. For example the arcane issue of contact points is a real teaser for all sim models but little said about and you really have to hunt some times for that sort of information. Float planes off course are part of the grand group of aircraft that were either built specifically to be a sea plane or were a land plane modified to operate on water, that is were a float plane modified to operate only onto and off water or were an amphibian meaning they were modified to allow wheels and floats so they could be a land plane or sea plane (or flying boat depending if it is Americans or Brits talking) is...

Yep, when I looked at my reference map it could only have been the Tirpitz battery. Would it be useful if I send the layout for the Flanders Marinekorps gun batteries?

I know it's been said many times, many ways, ... ..... when updating MSFS, to minimize problems, the community third party addons folder should be empty, with a backup put elsewhere until all is up to date.

BendyFlyer, I forgot to ask one question. Does this thread focus just on flying boats and amphibians, or should we include float planes, too? Thanks.

That's really interesting about glassy water on take-off and water drag. I never knew that. I always have focused on getting "up on the step'. TIP: Like a lot of simmers, I use Accu-Feel (couldn't live without it). If you use Accu-Feel, I recommend checking Sea in Aircraft Settings and unchecking Waves AUTO. I uncheck Waves AUTO to prevent any conflict with P3Dv5. Checking Sea allows you adjust Water Drag on individual aircraft. I have found that sometimes when you import a seaplane into P3Dv5, there seems to be too much or too little (usually too much) water drag. In this case, I usually adjust the water drag until the aircraft will lift off at its rated take-off speed when using normal procedures.

Greetings- there is another option out there for the Ki-44 for CFS2... it's been around awhile. Just Google 'knokke ki-44' and you should get a link to his site. I think he did every operational version... if I recall he didn't do a bad job! Have fun! - Mike Z.
