This last video has nothing whatever to do with MSFS 2020. It is an entirely different engine than the custom engine Asobo has coded, albeit Asobo's custom engine does replicate many of the same features.

My two cents on the subject. BUY! Sure its got issues, but for me, compared to V4.5 I am getting fewer CTD's and its running much smoother. Before V5 came out I was getting quite negative on P3D thinking it had little hope against MSFS 2020 but now I am exited to use it again. There is little downside to buying it, sure it costs money and will take up space on your disk, but you are not locked into just one simulator. If nothing else it helps support the industry. I have the MSFS Alpha and hope someday it will become a usable product, I have X-Plane, despite that I can't stand it, because I don't want them to go away.

The last several posts in "Fun Flying" about the Westland Lysander really should have been made here. It is one of the reasons I find that I can't seem to finish up the longer running tasks. Programming a new Gauge is a bit of tedious work and the way that I have things arranged, the task requires moving repeatedly between at least two computers. One is used for Internet access and to perform compiles of the actual .GAU file. The other is used to test the gauge in CFS. Even for a minor change, several steps are required. The computer used to run the simulator has mostly been recovered but still lacks the graphics tools and compilers to do any serious development work. My laptop is reasonably powerful but really not suited for gaming. I have quite a number of AFX project files...

Hi zinj, Actually, your English is very good. :encouragement: Wondering... do you and Thunderstreak have FSUIPC 6 installed???? I ask because I was having major problems with control surfaces not working, or only partially moving on P3Dv4.5HF3 and P3Dv5 wo/w HF1. They would work once, then not work. Took me a few tests to find, and attribute it to FSUIPC, as I never had any problem with prior editions. I don't set up my controls with FSUIPC, but I do usually set it to remove "spikes" and to set end points, etc. as well as some of the other "fixes" it can do. This is the first time I've had any control "problems" with it. When I disabled FSUIPC in the "add-ons" menu, my control problems went away. Just thinking out loud on your problems. (I might try redownloading FSUIPC 6 to...

For all the bugs (and I don't find there are that many - but the occasional freezes and ctd's are indeed really annoying, although I'm experiencing fewer now for some reason), I haven't been back to FSX since v5 came out. The graphics performance is great, and I can finally run the ORBX TrueEarth sceneries without a problem. My average system runs great framerates all the time. But above all, it's the rendition of the atmosphere that has me hooked. For once it feels like a flight simulator, and not an aircraft simulator. It's less about the aircraft and more about the flying. Also a big plus here, the VC lighting is greatly improved over v4.5. Exterior lighting could still use some tweaks, and hopefully that'll be done. My two cents. :)

thanks again Shessi. Yeah, I have Bob Braham's 'Night Fighter'(same as 'Scramble'?) on loan also. I will have to look for Brandon's 'Night Flyer' as it sounds pretty good Steve

Thanks Guys.. I cant tell you how much I appreciate your knowledge and opinion. It gives me something to chew on.. Sixty dollars is not chicken feed any more and welll, it seems its one thing to use it to buy a known variable like an airplane or something, but something as unknown as a whole new program, well, thats a scary thing. I aw a hotfix for V5 on the P3D site already and oddly, it didnt surprise me. Release day fixes and even first week fixes seem to be the way things are these days. It gives me pause and makes me wonder.. I dont know.. P3Dv5 looks drop dead gorgeous straight out of the box. But will my planes work in it?? I've got a lot of FSX planes that ( knock on wood ) still work in P3DV4.5 including most of the planes I made the flight dynamics for.. Those are special too...

Just to clarify - those are not my sceneries, N.C. They are currently WIP by Klaus Nowak (KLNowak). All I can see he is doing a really promising job on it :applause:

I have been looking for a RAF equivalent to the detailed LW NJG operations by Theo Boiten etc., but so far have been unable to find any; only all the biographies. The closest which was limited to East Anglia was 'No Place for Chivalry' by Alastair Goodrum.
