    Thanks Frank. Yes, brakes mapped to the "." key and pinky trigger on the X52 stick. Both function. Really stumped on this.

    For some reason Just Flight where I bought the original SWS F-4 has the PBR edition at full price with no "upgrade" option or price for customers who bought the old F-4 at JF. Anyway, I have now uninstalled this aircraft and guess will go back to the Alphasim F-4. Have become frustrated with the pitch having a mind of its own (pitch trim hat button IS set to repeat and slider in the middle) so can't really fly it, lack of detailed systems manual (e.g., where exactly is the battery switch?), cold/dark or ready to start start ups don;t work, inability to change load outs if you change paints or a/c mid flight and curtailment of the old SWS web site forum, which solved a lot of the earlier teething problems.

    Not exactly true.....the Merlin engine ones were underpowered compared to the Hercules engine ones, as the Merlin was a 'Ministry' substitution for the design spec Griffon. Griffon engines being reserved for the Fairey Firefly. The problem with the single engine performance was down to a wartime shortage necessitating some Beaufighters going into service without the ability to feather the propellers.....and while the Beaufighter could stay up on one engine, it was only if the prop on dead engine was feathered, due to the aerodynamic drag.     Thatís possibly the difference in coordinate system between Gmax and DirectX. Another example is a model in Gmax for FS has the front showing in Back view of Gmax and the back is seen in Gmaxís Front view. Odd, but modellers just get used to it.

    Thanks, thatís all good news. Am definitely not a CTRL-E person when it comes to big radials, though Iím sure thereíll be others who will appreciate that. Just glad to know I wonít get stuck up-river if res no cart to be had. Sales resistance crumbling... :cool:

    FooFighter, it is great to see you tackling the FHCAM P-40C! I'm not sure if you've seen these photos, via the FHCAM, that may be of use if you haven't seen them already. When they painted the FHCAM P-40C, they went about doing so in the same fashion they originally had with the AVG Tomahawks in 1941. The RAF camouflage was applied first, as it had been at the Curtiss factory, and using Curtiss' subcontractor paint company's versions of the RAF colors. They applied the paint using rubber masks, just as the Curtiss factory did. Because the wing and tail fairings and control surfaces were painted separately from the airframe, the camouflage demarcation lines never met up properly, and this is also reproduced correctly in the FHCAM P-40C's paint scheme. There were also of course big voids...

    From A2A: Hello guys, Now that the cat is out of the bag regarding Prepar3D v5 and the NDA has been lifted, just a quick word on the new version of the platform from A2A Simulations' perspective. The outlook for PC flight sims is especially exciting and fast-changing right now, so charting our future development priorities is quite a challenge. Version 5 of Prepar3D is just about to drop into the mixing pot and offers some promising performance improvements and a bunch of interesting features. Broadly speaking, our existing P3Dv4 aircraft already work pretty well in P3Dv5. However, there are a few features that currently aren't compatible. One of these is the dynamic windshield rain effect which will need updating for DirectX 12. As a result of the rendering changes in v5,...

    DD, A very worthwhile project. The beaches and cliffs alone would be useful in any European install. I don't know about the cliffs but the sand and shoreline could be done by one of our talented members.

    IIRC there is something about CFS3 which treats 180-360 different from 0-180, in that the former might have to be -ve values. I'm not 100% sure bur AFAIK, it applies to Global Layer orientation.

    IMHO, most of those actually posting here are either doing some kind of additions to CFS3 or are having issues with it. Those who mod stuff are a minority who are in fact more interested in what they do than 'playing' the sim. Personally; it's rather like a drug as I actually would far rather just be a player!:biggrin-new: We do need tons more people who just want to play but also give feedback to what modders are doing.Meanwhile... some of us are obsessed!:dizzy::pop4::redfire:

    Actually, there is nothing stopping you from starting on batteries. We start the left on internal batteries anyway. Having closed the crew door (no hamburgers) We elected to put in GPU start for an extra fun value. The SP will have quite a few improvements and additions. However, if people want ctrl/E then they'll need to wait until we launch ctrl/Ezy. Then they can go flying in about 5 seconds flat...:adoration::engel016:
