BananaBob started a thread Meta Quest 3 in MSFS (FS2020)
I just ordered the Meta Quest 3 and was wondering if anyone was using it and what their thoughts were on it? Is it hard to set up? Thanks.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery - Library objects Description: Alexishafen Cathedral for CFS2 by UncleTgt This is an eye candy object I made mainly in support of my reworking of the scenery for the Madang/Alexishafen area of Papua New Guinea. This cathedral was a large landmark object on the shore at Alexishafen. It was built by the German settlers prewar as part of a large Catholic Mission. On occupation by the Japanese it began to be used for storing munitions, so became a target for Allied air raids. Destroyed during a large B24/B25 raid in September 1943, it was never rebuilt.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery - Library objects Description: C Shape Revetment Objects for CFS2 by UncleTgt On researching the airfield complex at Gusap, it became apparent there was a need for shallow "c" shaped aircraft revetments, as the "U" shaped objects looked too "protective" & "developed". Cover, such as it was at places like Gusap, seemed much more like a temporary sandbag wall in a shallow "C" shape, so that's what I made. There are 2 types, a small & a large revetment object. They are multi-LOD.

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons Description: Saidor-Madang Scenery for CFS2 by UncleTgt This is a reworking of the stock sceneries for the area at the NE end of PNG, from Finschhafen north & westwards as far as Hansa Bay. It is designed for use with Rhumbas mesh, but the scenery excludes provided should mean this works well in a stock mesh install too. This scenery builds on & extends the areas covered in my previous PNG sceneries, but it should work as a stand-alone scenery as well. Contents:

Totally agree with M. And I think you've put it into perspective R with that superb overhead long distance shot of Ramsgate, that it looks so much better, more accurate and immersive with what you're done so far, what sort of level do we really need from 2000ft plus?! Cheers Shessi

Its my own, made with FSDS. Its a bit under scale, so if you use it you need to enlarge it a tad. that tends to be the way i do thing's, i dont worry to much about scale while building, i can adjust that in sim.

I think I've taken figuring this out as far as is useful. I've stayed with the Retrofit DC-3 during the last many flights only to minimize any inconstancies between aircraft. I've already had other aircraft with the same autopilot suite behave the same way. I don't think I can blame this on a single aircraft, unless I figure out later there's some sort of caching/data bleedover when switching between aircraft during the same flying session. -Where it's at now is that sometimes the DC-3 will load up with a correctly working AP with all the button selections and actions doing what they are supposed to do. A whole multi-hour flight goes perfectly. -On a few flights, the correctly working AP system will suddenly stop working for no apparent reason a few hours into the flight, with...

Thanks noddy I hope you're able to make sense of it all. Update: Had a deeper look at the paintkit. They are Photoshop files, and so when opened in Gimp, the layers are all individual layers, including the header folders. So it's not really too difficult to isolate just the panel lines and rivets for making NORMAL maps. Just turn off the details. Fortunately the paintkit is of the correct orientation so, no rotating 180 and flipping horizontal is needed.

I really don't mind the criticism and I understand the desire for historical accuracy. I have seen some of the limited wartime colour footage that is available and I noticed that all stone buildings were a dirty black. The American bomber pilots used to say "If you want to find England, just look for the biggest, dirtiest cloud and that goddamn island will be under it" or something to that effect. I had already decided to keep the slate roofs for the sake of historical accuracy.

I hate to be critical of others who put a great deal of effort into trying to make CFS3 better; however, IMHO, the ? is whether we want a realistic sim or a beautiful sim. Much or the UK, and probably Europe was pretty grim WRT housing and even roads, as illustrated by Shessi. Most house heating was by coal, so everything was covered with pollution, even the trees would have been a darker colour, in towns at least; even moths adapted to be a dark colour, as the trees were so effected by pollution. The roads, if Tarmac, would probably have been a dark grey, maybe lighter if gravel. Grass, whatever there was, would also be in bad quality. The makers of the sim probably lived in suburban USA, as I now do; very different from 1940's Europe! However, your last picture is much more in the...
