I was wondering about that myself but came to realize that perhaps that situation is the most realistic. Over Germany Luftwaffe fighter losses almost equaled unescorted bomber losses. Even the aces that racked up huge scores were also shot down multiple times themselves. https://www.quora.com/What-was-the-WWII-ratio-of-kills-for-the-allied-bombers-versus-the-German-fighters

I converted the textures to 32bit and they do appear to be 1024. Not 2048 or 4096 so I'm pretty sure they do not need to be resized. As far as the alpha and the image, I can go back in and flip both of them for each texture and resave again. Once I had converted the textures I tried the model on FS9 and it said that the "software was incompatible with the sim and would be disabled" (In so many words). So I flew a different plane for about an hour. I'll keep you guys posted if I get it to work. Thanks -- BB686:US-flag:

You're right my friend ! The problem i'm having is with a custom install i have with FirePower and 1% aircraft. Those B-17's are a real pain in the a_ _ ! ETO is much better and at least i have have a chance. Will modify the AvHistory bombers to be more realistic and have a fighting chance. Regards,Scott

That worked pretty good Mick. I do need to adjust the CG as it is about 3 inches in front of the plane. I would do that the in the Aircraft.cfg I believe. Do you know how I might fix the prop disc? I did D/L a Hex editor and am learning how to use that so I might have a VC panel. And really thanks for the help and suggestions!

Hi Scott, in the ETO and other recent addons, you will find that gun xdps have been modified, for the "noise" parameter. Where AI versions of most planes are included, you will find that the panning rate (ratelimit) for onboard gunstations is decreased for the AI version of the aircraft. Then allowspawns is set for "N" for the main aircraft, and "Y" for the AI aircraft. So in most cases an attempt has been made to address the "sniper effect". You certainly wouldn't want to be cruising around within range of a B-17, you should be going like a bat out of hell! I recall some of the first AvH B17s were a big shock, because they had set the rate limit to 70!!! Those blast 50cals shredded everything that came within a (highly optimistic) range! Getting the balance right depends on...

Thanks for checking, Keith. I think I have the 'aircraft casts shadows on itself' box unchecked in FSX, on a recommendation I found somewhere years ago, in one of those 'maximizing frame rates' threads. I have never revisited this setting since. I will check my setting when I get back, regardless, now that you've piqued my curiosity.

I've had it happen too. I don't know why. I fixed it the same way you did, added them again. I seem to remember one time; having to copy them from P3D3 though, they disappeared completely. It's a plot to drive us crazy... Sue

As I said in the Global Layer Changes ETO and BoB readme uploaded here, I was annoyed that the ETO and I believe stock versions showed the Royal Naval College. besides being placed badly, also not with the park behind it; a place I have walked in before! It is however in Clive's BoB install update as part of the "places' folder as seen below in my ETO install after I added it there. Clive has allowed me to upload it so it will come up in the Warbirds uploads soon. So if you don't already have the updated BoB install, just copy the whole places folder here into your ETO or other Europe based install and over write what little maybe there. This will gives you other places besides Greenwich Park. All the work is by Clive "Pat Pattle" Morely and the BoB install group. Uploaded here under...

You're on the right lines, using dxt-bmp, but you'll need to resize image to 1024 x 1024 maximum for fs2004, and FLIP image and Alpha before saving. Ttfn Pete

I have read the same in the forums. I'm using TerraMaxx which has seasonal textures however they don't affect orthoimagery so flying into an area that contains that type of ground texture in Winter looks odd.

you need Rotorhub´s falcon20e.zip in version 1.1 from Warbirds Library or other sides as base. There are different models inside. The updates I did with crew and antennas or other part add-ons of exterior model and the new repaints are only available here on SOH. To convert models is not so easy as it looks like. You have to create add-on parts with a modelling tool like blender, gmax, sketchup or FSDS. Then you have to merge parts and existing model and compile it again with Model Converter X. Keep in mind, that you change the work of an author, so permission is really important. There is a lot of discussions around to work with MCX. Because it seems you "only" add parts to an existing model, without taking "hand" on the original work. But with loading a mdl in MCX and compile it...
