Yes there's no getting away from it - a lot of spawn files need to be written to get interesting results. Fouteman used to put a lot of picktype entries into his aircraft xdps, and said that, despite the limited list of picktypes in the SDK, his unique picktypes worked on testing. It allows for better differentiated spawning. I have a much better handle on attaching spawn table files to facilities these days, and so can use facilities geographically located in the global_layer, to trigger air spawns belonging to specific fighter Groups, for example.

I seem to remember that there were textures that were made for the fuel tanks (perhaps only the GAF versions)? These would allow having appropriate colored external tanks. If so, where were they to be had? Wonderful Phantom; even better if I could download a centerline tank that is other than white with a red tip. Best to you all, Bill

Found it eventually, Walter - the Michel 1 built by Ludwig Michel in Brazil. A sort of 3/4 scale single-seat Piper clone. with a 36hp VW motor. Very odd.

I'm fine, thank you. Mongoose suggested me last night to pay a visit to SOH, has something to do with BoB I guess :) It's safe to assume things started in august 1940 with markings on the tail. The painted areas became larger when time progressed. Besides yellow, white and orange were used as well on fighter aircraft. The paint was washable, so could be removed very quickly if required. As I already remarked, markings within the same staffel could be different, as most likely those markings were painted during overhaul, as there was little time to paint the markings between sorties during the height of the BoB. No official order to paint the markings with a date in july/august 1940 has ever been found. Several possibilities: - if such an order dated august 1940 existed, it has...

As you can see, I've collected slightly fewer holes than usual, but it's still a bit of a worry. It's fortunate that we are not molested on the way home. With the bomber base at Wattisham in the distance, I order the formation to break up, chop my throttle, and begin to spiral down towards the much less well-appointed Westley. This time, not only does my undercart come down normally, the flaps work, too. I just need to watch out for those telegraph poles and the wires between them.

Jankees - thanks for that. I will go on the hunt for some more pictures for the lettering font types etc now. Not sure if or when I will start but it is in my paint workshop. Need to spend some time getting used to the aeroplane itself.

Time to turn the TAC back on and allocate some fresh targets to those who are reporting that they're free and rejoining formation. I join up myself with a couple of Spitfires, who may either be after a Hun or trying to form up on me! I soon break off and go after a Ju88 who doesn't seem to have any other Spitfires for company. I get in a couple of good bursts and next thing I know, there's a sort of whooshing bang, the Hun's wings and tail fly off, and his burning fuselage goes down.

If I recall correctly the Type in an XML script refers to the Category in the xdp file. It should be possible to add several references separated by a comma in Category and I wonder if it's possible to setup whatever you want. Let's say you have a vehicle setup as Category="tracked". If you change it to Category="tracked,SOH_CFS3" and you create a spawn script that will call for Type="SOH_CFS3" maybe it will work. I remembered having tried a few things like this, I don' remember if it was working as expected but I stopped because it's such a huge task to setup all this.

That did it! Well, almost! Only one paint is not showing. There should be two VA-82 paints. A-7 Corsair II VA-82_LV_157460 displays, but the one by Steve Bryant, A-7E Corsair II VA-82, does not, for some reason.... But this is GREAT! Thank you!! :encouragement::applause::applause::jump: NC

Sometimes it helps to delete the SimObjects cache for the problem add on aircraft. These cache files are stored in folder %APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects.

I'm soon closing fast on the damaged bomber. He starts dodging when I start shooting. But manoeuvring hard at low level in a damaged crate can be dangerous. Suddenly, the Hun spins out... ...and that's the end of him.

The shot of the camel and the Bev together is classic, although it's hard to tell which is which :playful: Jankees, hopefully you'll apply your brushes to her soon!
