More damned funerals to go to. The hell of it is, this gig does not have to be dangerous. I did 20 years with a large fire aviation outfit that had not a single fatal or hull loss in that period. Securite Civil, in the same period, on the same equipment, was piling up six fatal's a year. Culture. The French boys were 'cowboys', and it showed. Sadly, I could see the handwriting on the wall as the corporate culture changed from 'safety first', to 'safety first, right after profit'. It was cheaper, apparently, to relax standards, and just collect insurance. Pen whip endorsements, cut training for pilots and maintainers, switch to 'cheap' single engine tankers and outsource maintenance and spares. I went out the door. A year latter, they started punching smoking abrasions on mountain...

No worries JMC, and thanks for the history lesson! The Lioré et Olivier Léo 451...that is another one I really wish we had updated for FS2004/FSX.

TO be brutally honest you probably shouldnt start on a repaint. Or if you do be prepared for a LOT of frustration. I dont know how much experience you have with gimp but if you have just downloaded gimp and the paintkit after never using a layer based editor before then... time for some beginner tutorials for gimp. Also if you have got experience with photoshop there is a fork of gimp where they have made it as close to photoshop as it can be that might help with the ... I'll be politic here ... odd way that the coders have made gimp. Gimp in my mind was developed by coders with little to no feedback from designers and some things are just too weird. To the point that on my linux laptop I use krita which is far closer to a "normal" photoshop clone and has support for PSD. Plus it has just...

Evening all, I'm looking at getting into repainting aircraft, particularly Ant's Tiger Moth, as there are quite a few repaints I'd like to try. I've downloaded both the paint kit and gimp, however in all honesty am at a loss as to where to start exactly. I've had a look at a couple of tutorials, but I'm finding all the layers in the paint kit quite confusing. Any ideas as to where I might be able to go to find out? Many Thanks!

Hi, Sorry, I'm a little tired of the usual French bashing. Do not think that the French bombing consisted mainly of these obsolete planes. Only about fifty were in service for the night bombing and painted black. The legend of the Amiot 143 comes from the day attack on German ships bridges on the river Meuse near Sedan around May 18, 1940. I think I read that only 4 planes attacked the objective. One was shot down by the Flak. The French day bombardment mainly included Breguet 691 to 695, Lioré et Olivier Léo 451, a few number of Amiot 354 and from May 1940 a quite big number of US Martin 167F (Glenn for the French, Maryland for RAF) and Douglas DB7 equipment. To this is added the equipment of the Naval Aviation Loire-Nieuport 401 and 411 as well as Vought 156F (Vindicator). This Amiot...

Thanks, Hairyspin! Not being an adept at anything useful like skinning, modelling or C++ programming (I've always wanted to improve the CaGen 1-2.xls), I try to contribute in my limited capacity . . .

Chris and Kurt, It would seem my CTD with Wolfi's library objects may have been the result of corrupted files on my end. I deleted the filelist.dat and .cdp files, and reinstalled the objects. The problem has not recurred. :encouragement:

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category P3D / P4D Add-Ons - Civilian repaints Description: This repaint pack shows LET-410UVP in Aeroflot red and blue liveries. CCCP-67027 and later RA-67027 with C/N 810629 was one of twenty operated Let-410UVP by the former Aeroflot flight training school at Sasovo. Withdrawn from use by 2009. Blue CCCP-67173 and later RA-67173 with C/N 790209 was used by Aeroflot since 1979 as passenger and cargo transport aircraft at Saratov/Volga, later 1991 as RA-67173 in Kasan until 1996. Was sold to Latvia to cargo carrier Concors Air Service in Riga and became YL-KAE. Since 2002 aircraft was stored in Riga, fully stipped of paint. In November 2019 YL-KAE got a new and funny paint. For P3Dv4.4+ only PWDT_L410_V3_PBR_1_base.zip and...
