As a sound professional, I concur with your comments. As someone with experience using Wwise (and one of its competitors FMOD) in professional training simulators (not flight sim, for what its worth) it's painful to see so many not fully understanding what Wwise is and what it isn't. It's a great new sound engine for FS but as Fnerg said, and I completely agree, the crux of the matter is the source material -- good, high fidelity recordings made under the right conditions with good equipment, and processed for computer audio systems. All that is expensive. I'm confident a quality sound set using legacy method could be built and people would think it was Wwise if they didn't look under the hood or expect the features that just do not exist in legacy (such as the low-pass filter...

Thank you Whitehawk, Victory103 and John ! Most interesting read ! You don't much think about that when flying a Tomcat at home while drinking a nice cuppa. ;-) Btw sorry for the late reply, i have a bit problems here with the Post composer.. Oh, and in the mean time i installed DCS again (had it before, absolutely fantastic, but FS is and stays my home sim). Just the basic free version. Fooling around with the P-51 great fun! Intend to buy the Carrier stuff of course but for the moment i can't get my Raptor throttle to work in DCS. Need to fix that first and foremost. ( buttons work but the throttle itself does nothing...) Thanks again, gents !

Hi Willy, MR's latest packages are based on Rhumba's water masks from 2009, while his earlier works are based on stock scenery which can be enhanced by Rhumba's water and coast files from 2007. Make sure the 2009 water masks are active and, if you have them, the 2007 water and coast files are deactivated. It's a bit of a nuisance, I know, when moving around the PTO, you have to activate and deactivate scenery layers depending on their age. In order to complete the DEI scenery, I recommend installing packages by Onnogras and Arndt. In addition, Skylane's Air War over Malaya and the East Indies campaign contains improved scenery for Sumatra by Devildog, Rami, UncleTgt and me.

Thunderchief - Good to hear that. Yes we all have a weird and wonderful collection from full blown study level to not so. Realistic navaid systems? hmmm I have to confess my interests have been in the classic jets as opposed to the modern all glass tubes. Captain Sim used to be the pick of the bunch in FSX but the 707 and 727 did not make it across the 64 bit divide into P3D so they are history for me! I do think the Coolsky DC-9 now sold as a package with the Super 80 and 80 professional by Flight 1 is about the best unless you go down the PMDG route. The issue with the DC9 family is that no help in the right hand seat you can get them to preconfigure to a point but you have to do all the work alas! But for complete systems fidelity, great VC and superb handling as per the real DC9s...

BendyFlyer, I have to thank you for putting forth such a detailed and well thought out explanation. I think you managed to cover all of the points needed to make an educated decision on my “tubeliner” purchase. This is my fault totally, I kept my original post pretty short and perhaps vague. Perhaps I should have offered a little about my experience in the flight sim world. I’ve been at this regularly since FS9 and CFS2. I have and enjoy a number of “study level” or somewhat complex sim aircraft as I prefer realistic aircraft and systems management. I just never got into modern airliners. I did though, back in the FS9/FSX days fly the CS 707, my one and only jet airliner! I have the full catalogue of A2A planes, most of the Milviz piston aircraft (and turbine Otter), PMDG DC-6,...

There is a new update out. This fixes the control column animation, improves texture quality on the canopy, fixes the VR camera data, elevator trim in the Gulfhawk and a few other gremlins.Oh and further work on fixing the CTDs with some add-on sceneries.:engel016:

That might be an issue, as the ETO last version was a while back, and many new ac and stand alone textures relevant to ETO have been added since. The normal way to do missions now would be to use what you have and make a note in the readme as to what ac facilities, weapons m etc., might be required. Downloaders then can get those from the Library or just use notepad to change the aircraft(s), etc. Thai in fact is very quick and I do it all the time to old missions when upgrading to new aircraft.

I do not recommend the automatic driver update program, or use the MSI Afterburner, I am having problems with two models of fw190A, then I will create a section on my website where I explain about it

Been trying my hand at building some missions for ETO expansion but I have come to the realization that my install is heavily modded and has over 1200 aircraft installed, some from CFS3 early days in 2004 up to current aircraft. The problem now is trying to workout what aircraft came standard with the expansion? I would like to build the missions around the default ETO aircraft for easy integration without a heap of downloads. Can anybody point me where I might find a list of or share with me a list of the default aircraft that is in a fully patched ETO install. I can do a reinstall to new directory but I thought I might ask first.

I had modified his IL-2 KI-44 aircraft for CFS2. New features: break apart wing logic, air scoop, VC, gunsight, cockpit window frames, engine, pilot, MLOD models, 2D panel, propeller, gauges, landing gear/wheels and animation. Almost 80% of the aircraft have been rebuilt. I have also downloaded over 120 paint schemes at I am hoping to get permission from him to upload the aircraft. I have tried posting the request at SAS1946 to get information on him. I may have to just release the 2D cockpit panel if I can not contact him.

This in my opinion is the best GPS and it is free. I replace every GPS in my aircraft with it and it has never failed me on either short or long flights. I use FS Panel Studio but if you do not have it I am sure that you can follow the instructions for the 295. You can download it here: There are a few of these in Here is a good package: This is a nice autopilot:

I repainted the C-2 Greyhound and also the E2 Hawkeye when these were first released. You can find both repaints here in The Warbirds Library. Enjoy. :loyal:
