    SeanTK - Yes everything dates in some aspects. Even the Bing maps-data that MSFS use are out of date by a margin of some years. I do doubt even their alleged accuracy as well for example missing islands in the PNG regions (??) The MK Studios stuff is very nice has not caused me any peformance issues (not that I have noticed). There were some very good Icelandic Scenery packages that came out of Norway for FSX (Iceland 2013 and Dan French Iceland was the other) basically covered all the Icelandic airports and a lot of special spots but not in P3DV5 - there are now too many elevation and exclude issues to deal with to make the scenery work. And thanks to DX12 and 64 bit, the newer scenery means the toolskit for people like me are is so easy to work with anymore either. Look ADE is...

    Among a number of items still needing to be addressed, the yellow 'PT879' stencils on the wing tips need to be re-angled to match the angle of the aileron joint.

    I put up the gMax source of my CFS2 Bf110c. It is super basic but may be of use as CFS2/FS02/FS04 and CFS3 use many of the same gMax keys for animation. Has breaking parts and damage texture logic. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=17&linkid=19588

    Just had a quick look and they all appear to reference diffuse, specular and reflective textures in the m3d. Trying to use all three can cause a conflict with AnKor's shaders so they just appear as flat matte finish. Hex editing the specular reference value to FF instead of the texture sequence value should get it working the way you want.

    I checked out the new bgls that I replaced on the airport today in FSX and with the default Cessna 172 I was getting 70-80 fps, is that fantastic or what? I will continue replacing all of the old "Sketchup" bgls with the new GMAX bgls and I will post some screenshots and should be able to share this here and on AVSIM that I have permission to do. On my system there isn't a bit of flickering either. For those of us old enough to remember, like Hannibal of A-team said: I love it when a plan comes together! :encouragement:

    A crane has been used to drag the Avenger onto the beach. It looks like it can be restored, but I'm sure it will take quite a bit of time.

    Cool - having visited Iceland twice in recent years, I’m looking forward to going back. On the MSFS side, I know that the next global update will include “The Nordics” to include Iceland, so that may finally prompt me to switch over. The orbx scenery is an improvement but it’s still incredibly out of date - showing the Harpa as still under construction as just one example. Also hoping we’ll see development of more airports: we have MKStudios BIKF and BIAR but my performance is horrible at the former. Also hoping for more airports to be released especially on the south and eastern sides.

    Thanks Ravenna for your good words, I'm glad you enloy the Harry Tate. The Re8 wasn't the plane that would have win the first price for beauty, and she had some reputation to be a "Fokker Fodder", but she was involved in lots of reliable tasks that drove her into the legend, I built as a child the venerable Airfix kit and it stayed since in my imagination.     It's not important, but post #232 of this thread, back on April 4th, was my first indication, though I had been working on it for about a week prior to that. I wouldn't expect you to have seen it. I don't mean you any ill will, Zsolt, I just thought it was a bit odd in you sharing that link a few posts up, making it seem like I was out of line doing the repaint of PT879. I'm all for anyone making repaints of the same aircraft that have already been done, especially if there are areas that can be improved upon. This is my very first foray into MSFS repainting as well, and I've been enjoying learning some new processes and tools. It has been taking a lot of revising of FlyingIron's work to get towards the results I want.

I am now trying the painting procedure of the new MSFS It wasn’t part of a race, it was just an idea But why is it wrong for someone else to paint the same scheme?     To fin the texture file, change the view mode in MCX to wireframe and open the materials editor (and check the box to highlight the selected texture on the model) and it will show you which one the part is on. It's a little more difficult to find out where it is on the sheet itself. One way is to use MCX to export the model in .dae format and then import it into Blender. Once it's open in Blender, you can look at the part with Blender in UV Editor mode. This will show you the UV map, which you can export if you want. Another way to find the location is to use FSRepaint by Abacus (it's payware but not expensive) and make test edits to the texture sheet until you find the correct spot on the model.

    The Gloster Gauntlet by Frank Elton is definitely showing its age, however it is the only Gauntlet available. I had some hope Nigel Richards would do a Gauntlet after he had finished the AVROs, but now I can only hope Nigel is still okay. I have tried to repaint Frank's old model, but the model is as flat/dull/matt as can be. So my question is: Is there anybody here, handy enough to make the model reflective with some minor gloss? In the past I has several handy tools based in Ivan "Archisoft" Hsu's MDLC model converter, but they all refuse to work under Windows10 and I'm simply not clever enough to learn how to do this with MDLmat. With some shine on the metal front of the Gauntlet hope to be able to extend the life of Frank Elton's beautiful Gauntlet with a few extra years.......
