Hello Ivan, DonŽt worry about long answers - personally, I like them for their rich content! Thanks for the surprisingly prompt answers and developments. I thought it would take at least a day longer! Thanks for the changes and the suggested improvements. IŽll look into them and answer accordingly! For a start, it all sounds and looks very interesting. Thanks too for pointing out the extra areas with glitches!

Ignore what "Mister" Randazzo says. His sour grapes come from the fact that he was denied special preferential treatment compared to other developers and the fact that he knows full well that what he's saying is untrue, but he keeps repeating it, makes his words utterly irrelevant. The fanboys will still hang on his every syllable, unfortunately. For the record, there are a number of products available for FSW which have nothing to do with Steam either to install them or support them whatsoever. The evidence is in plain public sight that PMDG is posting the same tripe that they were before. DTG could never have given PMDG what they wanted anyway, given the way that the sim was being developed. That said, in my opinion it is entirely DTG's management's fault that this line has...

That looks great CIMOGT - but I must say that when flying - addon Gauges should be kept to minimum size (like the Gauge for QE as it is now - the reason is; When you're flying you need to be able to see out the cockpit window. That Gauge looks really good but me - and others here - would like something small, discrete, and easy to navigate quickly; the chances are we'll be on final, in the rain, at night, in a hideous cross wind, etc; (in typical Sim Outhouse Pilot style) But you go with what feels right and we'll Beta it - you've got immense talent and it's great work - really great work - that you're doing. SALUTE. Jim

Would it be [possible to have some different deck aircraft loadouts..? Say for example F-35s with a few Merlins for a strike force... Maybe a large group of Chinooks with a few Merlins for a troop strike force.. Maybe someone knows accurate aircraft launch placement scenarios..?

As far as I know the only difference between academic, professional and developer is that professional does not have a watermark in the upper right corner that says academic/developer. The program itself is the same. Some add on developers charge different prices if you want to install on academic or professional and some (tacpac) only sells an academic version. You can get it here:

So I can free up some space on my HD at last :biggrin-new:. Let's see I just fired up Steam. I installed FSW in March of 2017 when it was released. It seems I used it for 4 hours and most of that was setting up the thing. Between this and Flight School and MS Flight in recent years, we have not been particularly well served. I feel sorry for folks who actually spent money on FSW. It will only serve to make folks more judicious or prudent with any 'new' developer coming forth in the future. It is a shame but I think they made an error in releasing the thing in dribs and drabs. There was never enough to retain interest when there are two other completed options out there. edit - I feel for the staff and developers who now have to find other jobs.

Stab in the dark: Create a simple, very small or invisible object (model), attach an effect (with sound) to it in ModelConverter and place it in the scenery (so that it can't be seen)? - Edit: Scratch that, you won't need a model. A compiled XML file for placement will do. See the example here:

I think, it was purely a business decision (same as MS closing down ACES). At the end of the day, there is only so much money that can be thrown at a non performing project. Shareholders come first, not us. Anyhow, let the postmortems continue..

I would always get the latest, once you buy the major version (4) all the minor updates (4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3...) are included, I am not even certain you can get the older minor versions. The current version is 4.2. If you have some 32bit add ons that you can't live with out and don't work in 4.2 you can get 3.4 but that will be a separate purchase. I am currently using 4.2 academic.
