I should have added that that is a cool picture. The fact that the new weather engine can surprise us with details like that is partly what makes it so amazing.

Gavin, thanks again for your help. I have figured out the props and how to keep the wings and tailhook from snapping to 0,0,0, now hopefully I can get them to animate like they're supposed to. :encouragement: Edit: I just now read your last post (above). After I find the correct SceneGraphNode, is it necessary to change the visibility and/or animation tags on that line or just the ModelPart lines?

The problem is that you are not assigning the prop part the appropriate visibility condition. this screen shot is from Toms tutorial. You need to make sure that all the ModelPart's that are have prop0 animations are assigned the same visibility condition. Ie all Prop0_still animations have prop0_still visibility, prop0_slow parts have prop0_slow visibility and prop0_blurred parts have prop0_blurred visibility. This can be a bit tricky because MCX will allow you to assign a visiblity condition to the SceneGraphNode, however nothing will happen. You need to make sure that it is the ModelPart that has the visibility condition. This has bitten me on the bum several times. Gavin

Now a few observations. I have carefully been reviewing everything I could find on the new sim and contemplating the shift. I am convinced that it is MAYBE a paradigm shift and I am very impressed with the visuals. I think this is going to be a bit of a long haul for it to be comparable to FSX on a number of functional levels anyway I took the plunge and have ordered a new PC that is properly capable of running this new sim properly and yes I will purchase and install it (once I can find the internet bandwith and speed capable of doing it - that is another issue). It is clear that this sim pushes even the most current advanced hardware to the limits and is CPU limited. It is clear that the current product as is has some significant issues in terms of the functionality for simming...

    Your modeldef.xml is missing the animation definitions. Add this to your file (make sure you do a backup just in case) <Animation name="tailhook_pct" guid="DC63F28E-5132-4fa2-9892-EBB46F72F7BE" length="50" type="Sim" typeParam2="tailhook_pct" typeParam="AutoPlay" /> <PartInfo> <Name>tailhook_pct</Name> <AnimLength>50</AnimLength> <Animation> <Parameter>

Hi James, looks like you are missing textures for the vehicles for some reason. I did find a texture problem with the Thornycroft crew truck, but I don't recall what I did to fix it. I would have looked at the m3d to see what texture it was calling.

Hi Casey, Modern technology is quite amazing. I'm here in Cape Town, close to a South African Air Force Base called Ysterplaat (steel plate) where we have the only flyable Avro Shackleton MR3, that we used to pull out of the hanger to do engine starts for the public. She will never fly again, it's a heritage aircraft, still with a few hours left in her spar, but not enough to train new crew. PM me your email & I can send you an FS2004 version of it, that we originally sold for funding to keep the real Shack alive. I was chairman of the Friends of the South African Air Force Museum for a couple of years there. Take care, Robin

I wish to thank you in finding ASCALON for me. It will not be found in propliners FS9, you must go to War Birds FS9 and there it is. I made 3 copies of ascalon which was the 3rd prototype of the York and had square windows. I am still amazed by todays technology I can talk to you from Minnesota to South Africa I have a history of the WARATAH a ship that disappeared near South Africa in the early 1900s. Thank You Casey:wavey:

Brian, thanks for the reply. I was following the CalClassics tutorial gavinc recommended and my prop_slow is same part as prop_still. This is how the currently converted plane looks when the engine is running. (see pic) The prop is always visible, never changes to prop_blurred only. Is there a RPM value I have to set somewhere, or should I use my prop_blurred part in place of prop_slow?
