Yes, that's the one. Try lowering to 0.75. If still to abrupt, lower it a tenth. 0.65, for example. You want it set to where the nose gear stops a little short of the end of the deck. Enough to turn back onto the rest of the carrier, if you see my meaning. Another possibility, and this is useful if the plane veers too easily to one side or another when it catches the wire as well, is to move the hook's longitudinal position rearward some. Use 10 foot increments, and shorten to zero in on the correct setting. The farther aft it is, the less it will veer in an off-centerline trap. You don't want TOO much, or it will allow the plane to run off the end of the deck. And never veer off centerline, no matter where on the wires it catches, left/right. The below settings were the result of...

Thanks for the thought guys, and all valid. Yes Jamie, that may be the answer, that would have to rely on the aircraft.cfg which has all the spec data, to tell the sim where the ac datum points are. A bit experimentation and then ve vill see! Cheers Shessi

Great read and had my own experience the age of the aircraft. Good deal get off the boat early, after the cat launch the nose gear failed to retract, so the crew flew back to Mayport with the gear down.

That's about where my birthing was on the Forrestal "FID". That was assigned as HS-3 15 man 1st class berthing. It always seemed like an imaginary "X" was painted on the FD directly above marking where the plane captain or blue shirts drop the tow bar. Being that far forward was kinda bouncy when in rough seas. During launches, we'd hear the cat shuttle and could feel it shudder the bulkhead. It was better location then those 40+ birthing areas.

Itís all I can do to hold her nose up as my aircraft bellies in. At least she doesnít just blow up! Next thing I know, the Blenheim has slid to a stop and Iím in my dingy! Then the bomber sinks below ground level, while I wave for rescue! Afloat on muddy dry land, but dry land nevertheless!

Finally bought the deluxe edition in the summer sale. It's pretty much pCars1 with more tracks and cars. Not bad though, I like the ice and rally cross tracks and cars, something that is missing (Or at least not working well.) from AC.

On we go! And the flak keeps blazing away at us. Slowing down into a climb seems futile, if not suicidal. So I stay low and continue to jink. It seems doubtful whether we can do another twenty miles of this, which I reckon is what's needed to take us back over friendly territory. Together, we roar over a town I don't recognise. Off to the left, artillery fire is falling. It's all pretty chaotic. Will this be our last sunset? I quickly banish the thought from my mind.

A look behind reveals several straggling Blenheims. The 110s now seem to be further back or higher up. Taking this as a sign that staying low is hindering the aerial pursuit, I stay down on the deck while continuing my turn onto a more northerly heading. A check of the air situation reveals a confusing picture, with identified Huns apparently threatening the tail-end Blenheims. What I don't notice is that despite being able to see them through my windscreen, the unidentified aircraft to my left front are single-seaters - Spitfires, in fact. Either our escort is catching up again, or a fresh squadron is entering the fray at a very opportune moment. Our formation comes back together again - it looks like we have only four out of eight still flying. It's at about this time...

DD I add them by hand. I just paste them from the downloaded folder. But I do have Jonesoft QC updater, maybe this is the source of the problem.

Hey! Trip-Trey (VMFAT-333) was the last squadron I was with. Got there just before we took their, and I believe the last Phantom, det to Iwakuni. We went to Osan, Clark AFB shortly before Pinatubo buried it, and so on. Our barracks were right next to the open, over-run area at one end of the runway, and our maintenance vans were right next to the runway, nearby the barracks. Made for those of us day-sleepers a real noisy environment! The airplanes would taxi up to our end of the runway, and do their engine run-ups before take off. Then go full AB for take-off, as it wasn't the longest runway. Made for some interesting sleep times, believe me! Thankfully, the chow hall was right next door to the barracks. Two things a Marine needs to be happy: food and a bed. Nice if it's shared, like...
