Because of my interest in the type, I thought I would start a new thread just focused on these two recently-released aircraft. They are available through the MSFS Marketplace at a cost of about $15 USD, together as a single product. I blame my dad for my affection for the Gee Bee R-1 and R-2, as they were his favorite aircraft and I simply couldn't avoid it. I was fortunate enough to see Delmar Benjamin's replica R-2 at an airshow once in the 90's, and we of course had models, books and artwork of the R-1/R-2 around the house when I was growing up. I have just always thought it was such a neat looking aircraft, and they represented what state-of-the-art aviation was for their time. I've bought every FS addon Gee Bee R-type going back to the days of FS2002, and as far as accurately...

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Skins - Japanese Description: Akemi A6M2b Zero skinpack1 by UncleTgt This is a revision of Akemi's A6M2b Zero for CFS 2. The model has ben tweaked with a blue/green glass colour & slight changes to sheen using MDLmat. A semi-gloss mdl is supplied to better depict the polished alum finish used by these aircraft. The airfile only has a description changed to read in English. The textures have been redrawn to try & match the stock textures in appearance, & depict a variety of aircraft at different times throughout their active service. The textures supplied are: DIII-103 Aircraft flown from Ryujo during August 1942. The red fuselage stripes match those found on a D3A wreck at Guadalcanal (see even...

I have been flying FS8, FS9, FSX, P3D, and now MSFS for about 25 years. During that time, I often use keyboard shortcuts. Well, I took a two month break from any flight simming. Last night for the first time I got back into my cockpit to try the new SWS RV-14. There was no sound coming from the engine. I could NOT remember the keyboard shut cut to turn the sound off and on. I also didn't remember some of the settings I assigned to my HOTAS. Talk about frustrated! Getting old is not for the timid.

Managed to install Ground2K on an old laptop (Windows 7) and had my first go at learning how to use it. Thought I'd start a thread in case anyone else is also thinking of trying Ground2K. Am following the Sander De Cocq tutorial, which seems fairly clear so far, although a few things took a while to work out. First attempt was to try to put some sort of simple breakwater at Plymouth - attached, seems successful so far!

Funny, that the FIRST (AFAIK) 'proper, third party native MSFS study-level jetliner' has been released and that there's only 21 replies sofar at Avsim about it and absolutely non whatsoever sofar here at SOH (not really thàt much surprising of course). Certainly, Concorde has been released a few weeks ago but i'm not sure, can we call that a regular jetliner ? She is very, very special, isn't she. The BAE 146 however IS a regular jetliner and i, for one, think that the Just Flight 'in-house' dev team did a fantastic job in the graphics department of their 146 project. And that's only by viewing the promotional screenshots and video. Inside and out it looks absolute superb. I might take the plunge for the looks only. I mean, look at it:

Hi Folks, Just uploaded the CFS2 version of the Mitsubishi Ki-1-II medium Japanese bomber. Ugly..yes, underpowered...yes, but significant as the first mass produced bomber by Japan in the mid to late '30's. Used in the Sino-Japanese and Manchukuo conflicts, and as a trainer in the early war years. Please read README for details etc.....;) Cheers Shessi

Our first attempt to scenery creation. Bare bones navigation from the dawn of commercial aviation… Flying really low and slow in all weathers, day and night, no autopilot required… Following in the slipstream of Leon D. Cuddeback & Elrey B. Jeppesen… If this sounds like your kind of flying, then we might have something for you.

Hi All, Just seen that BlackBox Simulations have released their BN2 Trislander selling at 29.99Euros. Looks interesting but already have the BN2 Islander (& far too many other aircraft sitting idle in the hanger!) so may hold off for a little while! Keith.

I wanted to fly today. I got interrupted over and over. Then when I finally created my flightplan, it was 3+hours in the C172 and I just didn't want to fly that long. So, I went to Skyvector. Currently I am at KCHS Charleston, SC from my last flight from Myrtle Beach. I started looking at the sectional and saw an airport, KDBN, W.H. Bud Barron Airport in Dublin GA. About 1 and a half hours. Just right. My next step is to search and see if I can find an FSX airport for it. No such luck! Ok, open up ADE and see what the 12 year old (or more) ACEs default FSX looks like. Not too bad. Now open up Google Earth and oh yah it's not very accurate if it was 12 years ago. The first thing I did was to replace the nicely surfaced closed runway with a ground poly of old broken concrete...
