I have dabbled in electronics for decades (I am a fully qualified Ham Radio operator licensed since the mid 80's) and I have repaired the wiring but it must have taken out some on-board chips or PCB switches when they shorted because certain functions either do not work or act really strangely. It has crashed the computer when connected so it will go to the electronics scrap yard the next time we have enough junk to make a trip (we can't just toss dead electronic items into the garbage here in Canada and have to recycle them through Gov't recycling centres).

When you are in cockpit view, sometimes hitting F6 takes you to a view that aligns with the gunsight. If so it will show up as a separate station in the xdp, I assume? The Firepower Me410 is an example of this setup; there are many other examples.

I was going to suggest that myself. Mixed feelings on this debate - on the one hand, I'm in favor of adding modern avionics (I also like antibiotics and general anesthesia - my nostalgia for the good old days is tempered by the casualty rate). On the other hand, the Garmin doesn't look quite right in the vintage VC, if only because someone going to the trouble of adding a Garmin would probably also make a few other changes. In all, the more modern V2 VC is a better match. I sometimes find myself hoping that someday, there'll be a V3-quality version with a contemporary flight deck along the lines of Robert Randazzo's Tabitha May. But given the amount of work involved, that's asking a lot of a freeware project - something like that would probably have to come from the likes of PMDG...

Hey Joe, if you haven't already it might be worth your while searching back on this forum for the FSAddon Hudson release thread and subsequent update release and repaints. I recall there was a discussion about Aussieman's repaint textures not aligning with the model; and also some problems with the auto-installer for the update not putting files in the right place (manual installing seemed to work). If, as you say, the base pack has not been updated, some of these issues may still be lurking around.

It's not the reticle position. I believe it's the x,y,z location defined in the m3d file where your head would be located. All of the views from inside the cockpit are created relative to that spot. If it happens to be inside a hollow object (like a 3D pilots head from the external view) you will see the polygons from the inside out. This is usually not a problem if the polygons are textured on only one side and are defined as invisible from the other side, but at certain angles the edges can occasionally show up.

Hi All, I'm a stone cold green horn in Gmax. My only experience is in converting newer models to CFS2. Mcx - 3Ds - Gmax - export as Fs9 *.mdl or scenery. Done a bit of mapping but that's about it. I'm hoping to learn how to animate a radar on a ship now converted to CFS2. This sim will recognize "Tick 18" for rotating animations. I've searched high and low for anything on the web but most seems to have been long gone due to time. Would anyone by able to point me in the direction of a website or tutorial to accomplish this? Here are some pictures to illustrate my, hopefully, modest goal. :kilroy:

Hi SH, Possibly, it looks like the 'glass' gauge fronts do not have a very good alpha channel in the gauge tex or the gauge reflection tex is poor, which is making them seem slightly opaque. See if there is an instrument gauge tex, remove it and see what that does. If the gauges become fully opaque then put the tex back, and mod the tex alpha channel to a clearer setting. Cheers Shessi

Hey Larry, great news on both of you quitting, ex-smoker myself for many years now and once you get through the hard stuff, the habit is the main thing to break. You then find out just how stinky cigarette's are :) Anyway, great job, keep it up. :encouragement: If you have any friends with electronics skills they can rewire that throttle for you. If you were in Aus, I'd say post it to me and I'll do it for you. I'm also looking at the Alpha and Bravo and according to the Facebook page they've been having some manufacturing issue and had to slightly rework some of the controls on the Yoke. Hopefully it's work the wait as I can't wait to get rid of my SaiTek Quadrants.

Here is the difference: New is with Hellcat clock. Old is with (I think CFS1 Spitfire clock). A small screen capture like this they both look acceptable, however, when they are CFS2 flight size the 12 hour Spitfire clock is unacceptable.

But it isn't showing in the Hellcat panel config, though it is in the actual panel??? I substituted it in two of the Corsair panels.... We shall see what it looks like.

You talking about the reticle position? How is that changed? I note the BoB 109 only has one set of pilot views in the xdp. BTW anyone else having issues with SOH connectivity?

Why dont you just use the V2 which had all the glass stuff already fitted. I have kept that one going for specialist C-47's such as the Basler, Buffalo etc. Makes a nice change for modern electronics. Flies just as well.

That would be what you see when the eyepoint is partially inside the fake 3D pilots head.
