The paint appears to be done at this point, though there are always things that can be improved. The pilot has chosen not to paint the more typical yellow nose on his aircraft. Upper Fuselage has no gray for better anti glare effects. I believe the final result came out reasonably nice looking. Now to get back to one of the more interesting projects. - Ivan.

Sorry for the bad title pun, but it's actually at the root of my question. Is there a way to retrofit a lighting effect to an aircraft whose landing light doesn't properly "paint" the ground and/or surroundings? I believe there's more to this than merely grabbing an effect you like and throwing it onto the plane's section. For example, the recent RFN F-8 Crusader has a spectacular landing light effect - it illuminates the ground and the immediate surfaces (such as other aircraft on a carrier deck) in front of it quite beautifully. By contrast, the landing lights on neither the FSXBA F/A-18 nor the Dino F-14 really cast much useful light at all, and do not "paint" anything at night. No problem, right? It happens that in neither case, the landing light is "external" to the...

On a ferryflight from PAFA - CYZF to Sola Air Museum (ENZV) right now. The DC 6B has been painted in its original colors as Braathens Safe LN-SUB (1957)

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't speak .xml-ese, or at least not very well. I still have FSX installed, so I can always go back to the original FSX planes, get the various payload weights from the FSX payload manager, and then manually enter the relevant weights in the relevant stations using the default P3D payload manager. It's not an elegant solution, and I would have to do it each time I took the planes up, but it should work. I'll still take a look at the payload managers, and see if I can figure something out (all the planes mentioned use .xml gauges, as I recall). At least I know now where to look, and I have planes whose payload managers do use the XMLTools64 file, so perhaps I can look at those to get some idea. Thanks again for the reply. - RobM

I haven't tried them yet, but I am sure they do not have all the squadrons that I need that were based at Cecil. If I recall correctly, I think all of theirs are the Lemoore based squadrons? NC

Resurrecting a VERY old thread that I started, way back in 2010! I am going through my files, and am missing (if it ever existed) a A-7E paint of VA-87 "Golden Warriors", in Lo-Viz colors. I have a Hi-Vis paint by Warhawk1130 (SOH member). He hasn't been active on here since 2018. His Facebook page also has been inactive since the same time frame. There undoubtedly are more paints for the Razbam A-7 which were done that I do not have. I am checking. NC

Hands up, whoever remembers building the old Airfix 1/72 kit of this aircraft... Lovely skin, looks as good as anything I've seen in any sim. I'd have been delighted to have turned out a model half as well...not that my first Airfix Spit IX was painted at all, it was left in the original pale blue after assembly by my dad; probably my very first Airfix kit, which will have come home, from Woolies probably, looking like this: I well remember it sitting on the mantelpiece with the wings propped up with matchsticks while the glue dried, to get the dihedral right, as recommended in the instruction sheet. Those were the days, but now we have so many superb, dust-free virtual models at our fingertips from the skilled hands of so many talented builders, so I mustn't get too...

Hello again Manfred, Yes the files are where they should be (I don't copy them into the main gauges folder). (1) I did as you suggested and the Beverley worked fine the first time I loaded it but then I shut down and restarted FSX and on loading the Beverley the second time unfortunately the issue recurred. (2) Checked both FSX and the rest of my computer (as sometimes I find things can lurk in odd places that you don't even know about) and no duplicates of that file present. I also thought I would try your GCA equipped C-47 release which also includes an AILA setup to see if that was showing any similar issues but that loaded perfectly on two separate occasions.

More discussion is always welcomed. If a topic were to go really long, at that point I might suggest opening a dedicated thread for it under Historical Wings. That said, pressing on with a futuristic looking flying boat.
