Kurt: Wonderful, you reminded me...I already had downloaded and used that utility years ago (ah the wonders of age). And remember how to use it. Great. Why does one get that dreaded "Failure to initialize the database" error message? I get it now (sometimes) and remember being frustrated in not knowing why or what it meant, and therefore how to correct whatever error it was addressing. And how do I reduce the widescreen display for CFS2 and go back to a more detailed smaller screen size (although I do have a wide screen monitor)? I think I remember believing that the wide screen would be neat, but the resolution deteriorates badly in this better unit. Will try not to be a pest as I wade back into the world of CFS2. -=Archive=- dcp

I'm just looking at possibly getting into the Reentry Simulator platform (https://store.steampowered.com/app/882140/Reentry__An_Orbital_Simulator/) since I'm a huge Mercury/Gemini fan. If these would be developed for this sim, I'd be all over it. Who knows, as a NASA / space freak, I still might be, even if it's focused on current-generation hardware. Thanks again, dl

Hello Aleatorylamp, Battery installation is complete. Needed a bit of help from my Wife to get one of the hooks in place. Her eyesight is a better than mine and even in daylight it wasn't easy to put enough light where it needed to go. I also found out today that the nuts and hooks don't really interchange well. They are supposed to be identical, but are not really. It probably explains why the hook in back did not stay in place last night. Every time the nut is tightened, the hook twists out of its hole in the battery tray. In the front position, it can be held in place. In back there is no room to get a hand on the bottom of the hook. By the way, the temperature will get down to -3.9 Degrees C tonight..... What you just described is basically all I am doing.

My own preference is a combination of GW3 and Silver Wings with a lot of extras. Silver Wings is really a click and install enhancement with the odd minor bug, GW3 is a make over and if one follows the well laid out instructions it works well. Just about any FS9 aircraft installs and works, certain weather and environment additions make nice eye candy, so it's pretty much FS9 on steroids. But do follow the instructions and go with a bog standard clean FS9 base. :encouragement:

I agree, I think for many years we've squeezed and reverse engineered to get the most out of our simulators. Always chasing that goal to get the best look and feel. Well, hey it's the future. We now have this MSFS which does pretty good at that, and if it's the best it gets, then I'll get them all please-and thank you. These models being developed today are something pretty special when it comes to the realism factor. They could be the best and last perhaps?? Then maybe what Spacesimulator next? I'll probably buy those models too. I am grateful there are artists who take the time to create for all of us. A lot of work goes into realism. :mixed-smiley-010:

I think Piglet did a X-24 for FS9. A quick pass through MCX should help. I'll look for it later tonight
